Foster + Partners’ 1,011-Foot-Tall 50 Hudson Yards Officially Tops Out in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Last Friday the final steel beam of Foster + Partners50 Hudson Yards was lifted into place, marking the topping out of the 1,011-foot supertall skyscraper. The dedication ceremony took place in the large public plaza with attendees including Related Companies‘ chairman and founder Stephen Ross, CEO Jeff Blau, and president Bruce Beal, Jr. The 58-story commercial building, which is also being developed by Oxford Properties, is the final structure in the first phase of Hudson Yards and the largest by volume, yielding 2.9 million square feet.

New Renderings Reveal ‘The Set’ at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards

New renderings from Handel Architects reveal The Set, a 587-foot-tall residential skyscraper under construction at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies, the 45-story structure is rising from a 17,280-square-foot L-shaped lot at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 35th Street, directly to the north of Bjarke Ingels‘ 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. Though it’s unclear which final form the building will take in terms of color palette, the renderings are likely a good indication of what’s to come for the reinforced concrete edifice that’s already several floors above street level.

The Spiral Approaches Topping Out at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards

Work is approaching topping out on 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, a 1,041-foot-tall commercial supertall in Hudson Yards and number seven on YIMBY’s December construction countdown. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the skyscraper occupies a full block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets and will yield 2.85 million square feet of office space. Turner Construction Company is serving as the construction manager, Banker Steel is in charge of manufacturing the steel, and Permasteelisa is the contractor for the glass enclosure for the 66-story project, which is expected to cost $3.7 billion.

Construction of the concrete core appears to have topped out at 50 Hudson Yards, a 1,011-foot-tall commercial supertall in Hudson Yards and number eight on our countdown of the tallest buildings in progress in the New York metropolitan area. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Related Companies with Oxford Properties, the 58-story skyscraper will yield 2.9 million square feet of office space, making it the largest building by volume in the first phase of the Hudson Yards master plan.
