Nine-Story, 108-Key Hotel Begins Rising At 27-07 43rd Avenue, Long Island City

The planned nine-story, 108-unit Hyatt Hotel at 27-07 43rd Avenue, in Long Island City, is now one floor above street level, according to The Court Square Blog. The building will measure 49,590 square feet in total. The developer, Prakash Patel, originally planned a residential project for the site, but filed new permits in 2014 for a hotel. The building is now expected to be complete in early 2016, and Michael Kang is the architect of record.

Eight-Story, 16-Unit Rental Building Filed At 876 Bergen Street, Crown Heights

Property owner Solomon Feder, head of Velocity Framers USA, has filed applications for an eight-story, 16-unit residential building at the vacant lot of 876 Bergen Street, in northwestern Crown Heights. Located five blocks south of the Franklin Avenue station on the A/C lines, the building will measure 10,846 square feet, which works out to units averaging a rental-sized 680 square feet. Asher Hershkowitz is the architect of record.

Community Church At 68-03 Roosevelt Avenue Building Six-Story Facility, Woodside

The Universal Church has filed applications for a six-story, 63,340 square-foot place of worship at 68-03 Roosevelt Avenue, in Woodside, right under the 69th Street stop on the 7 train. The building will include classrooms, rectory units, and multi-purpose rooms, and will occupy a large portion of the block. Mothusi Phometsi, of M3G Design, is the architect of record, and the church’s existing single-story building must first be demolished.

77-Unit Supportive Housing Building Planned At 110 Port Richmond Avenue, Port Richmond

Saint Joseph’s Medical Center plans to purchase the dilapidated two-story structure at 108-110 Port Richmond Avenue, on Staten Island’s North Shore, and develop a 77-unit supportive housing facility, according to DNAinfo. Fifty units will be set aside for those suffering from mental illnesses, while the remaining 27 units will be rented at below-market rates. The state will approve the plans after the community has 75 days to express concerns.

Revealed: 411 Ninth Avenue, aka Skylight House, Midtown West

UPDATE: while permits would seem to indicate condominium’s given the developer’s LLC, a rep for HTO has corrected YIMBY, and 411 Ninth Avenue will actually have rentals.

A sliver lot on the northwest corner of Ninth Avenue and 33rd Street has remained vacant for quite some time, but YIMBY now has the reveal for the building that will soon rise at 411 Ninth Avenue. HTO Architect is designing the project, which has been dubbed Skylight House.

Bergen Street in Prospect Heights is a hub of construction activity, and two residential buildings will finally rise on one of the strip’s last vacant lots between Underhill and Washington Avenues. Owner Benny Shlaff hopes to build two nearly identical four-story developments at 731 and 733 Bergen Street.

30-Story Building At 90 Sands Street To Be Converted Into 600-Key Public Hotel, Dumbo

Kushner Companies and RFR Realty are teaming up with Ian Schrager to develop a Public Hotel at the six-building Dumbo Heights redevelopment, in Dumbo, according to the New York Post. At 90 Sands Street, the 30-story, 508-room Jehovah’s Witness residential hotel could to be transformed into a nearly 600-key hotel, with up to 100,000 square feet of amenity and meeting space.

34-Story, 244-Unit Residential Building Filed At 639 West 59th Street, Riverside Center

Extell Development and Carlyle Group have filed applications for another Riverside Center building, this time at 639 West 59th Street, in Lincoln Square. The building will stand 34 stories or 391 feet in height, and will have 244 residential units. Retail space will span 1,845 square feet on the ground floor within the larger 330,152 square-foot building, and amenity space will be located on the ground floor and cellar. Goldstein Hill & West Architects is the architect of record.

10-Story, 33-Unit Residential Building Tops Out At 401 East 8th Street, East Village

A 10-story, 33-unit residential building under construction at 401 East 8th Street in the East Village, has topped-out and gotten its façade, per EV Grieve. The structure will measure 24,975 square feet, and units will average a rental-sized 755 square feet. The property owner is listed as 399 E8 Development LLC, and Akeeb Shekoni’s Askion Architects is designing. The project should wrap up and open for occupancy by 2016.
