Construction Progresses on Two-Tower Complex at 1 Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Construction is continuing on 1 Java Street, a two-tower residential complex along the East River in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Designs and developed and built by Lendlease, the project will yield 834 rental units across the two structures, the taller of which will stand 37 stories and 402 feet tall. Aware Super is the joint developer, INC Architecture & Design is the interior designer for the public areas, and Crème is the interior designer for the townhouse units at the complex, which is alternately addressed as 18 India Street and occupies a full block bound by India Street to the north, Java Street to the south, West Street to the east, and the India Street pier over the East River to the west.

144,312-Square-Foot Lease Renewal Signed At 51 West 52nd Street In Midtown East, Manhattan

International law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has renewed its lease at 51W52, also known as Black Rock, a 900,000-square-foot, 38-story building located at 51 West 52nd Street in Midtown, Manhattan. The firm will continue to occupy 144,312 square feet on floors 17 and 20 through 24 for the next 15 years. The building, originally designed by architect Eero Saarinen as the headquarters of CBS, recently underwent a $128 million renovation led by the building’s owner, HGI.

125 West 57th Street’s Curtain Wall Progresses in Midtown, Manhattan

Façade installation is moving along on 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Cain International, the 420-foot-tall structure will yield 260,000 square feet with 185,000 square feet of full-floor Class A office space, a dedicated amenities floor designed by Gensler, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and a new home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883 and sold the property to the developers for $150 million in 2017. The property is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc‘s One57 and SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street.
