Last week, YIMBY reported on permits for a 14-story mixed use development at 144-74 Northern Boulevard in Murray Hill, just east of Flushing in Queens. Now we have the reveal for the unusual, two-tower complex that will rise between 146th Street and Parsons Boulevard.
Back in 2011, the Wall Street Journal predicted the demise of the Bowery’s Lighting District, a strip of wholesale light stores beginning south of Delancey Street in the borderlands between the Lower East Side and Little Italy. Now three of those shops will bite the dust to make way for an eight-story residential and hotel project at 138 Bowery, situated mid-block between Broome and Grand Streets.
Anti-gentrification activists may have spent a year disrupting community board meetings over efforts rezone Prospect Lefferts Gardens and southern Crown Heights, but new construction in the area marches on. Down by the Sterling Street stop on the 2/5 trains, one developer has filed plans for a small residential building at 322 Lincoln Road, between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
In March, Simon Baron Development and Quandrum Global leased a parking garage at 267-269 West 87th Street in the Upper West Side, just outside of the neighborhood’s extensive historic district. Now YIMBY has the first look at the 17-story condo building set to replace the garage between Broadway and West End Avenue.
The city is finally moving forward with plans to rebuild two unstable 19th century buildings at 321 and 323 Canal Street in Soho, which have been in administrative limbo for more than two years.
