Extell is wrapping up work on its part affordable housing, part-luxe condo project at 70 Charlton Street, in the area west of Soho called Hudson Square. Tectonic recently swung by the site between Varick and Hudson Streets and captured the latest progress.
Downtown Jamaica is getting ready for its renaissance. YIMBY spotted plans for a new mid-rise near Rufus King Park last week, and now another project has emerged two blocks east, near the Parsons Boulevard stop on the E and F trains. The latest development is headed to 153-33 89th Avenue, between Burdette Place and Parsons Boulevard.
Storied French restaurant Lutèce occupied the ground floor of 249 East 50th Street for more than 40 years before shutting its doors in 2004. Thanks to the restaurant’s fame, the three townhouses at 249-253 East 50th Street have appeared in several movies and TV shows, including The Prince of Tides, Wall Street, and most recently, Mad Men. Now plans have been filed for the 16-story building that will replace them between Second and Third avenues.
In 2008, non-profit Pratt Area Community Council and BFC Partners finished construction on a six-story, 48-unit affordable building at 15 Quincy Street in Clinton Hill. Now a charter school may replace the low-income development between Classon and Grand Avenues, right next to the border with Bed-Stuy.
In February, Israeli-Russian billionaire Boris Kuzinez closed on the final piece of a three-property development site on Fifth Avenue in Midtown South for $59 million. Now, he’s filed plans for a 54-story condo building there, at 262 Fifth Avenue, on the corner of 29th Street.
