Demand for new retail and office space is rising across Brooklyn, from tony waterfront neighborhoods like Williamsburg to middle-class immigrant enclaves in the southern part of the borough. Down on Kings Highway in Sheepshead Bay, a five-story retail and office development is in the works.
Much of the Broadway Triangle in Williamsburg is frozen by a legal battle over discriminatory zoning, but developer Rabsky Group is pushing forward with their plan to develop two industrial properties in the area into seven large residential towers.
As the city gears up to rezone downtown Far Rockaway, one developer is trying to work with the zoning that already exists. Builder Surjeet Kaur filed plans to put up a two-story hotel at 10-74 Beach 22nd Street, right next to the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue stop on the A, where the elevated subway line ends in Queens.
A pair of condo buildings is set to replace two stories of retail and office space on a sleepy residential block in the West Village. New building applications were filed over the weekend to erect two connected six-story buildings at 703 Washington Street, on the corner of Perry Street and a block east of the West Side Highway.
