$51 Million In Affordable Housing Grants Announced To Support Ownership For 1,060 Households Across New York State

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced $51 million in grants to support affordable homeownership for 1,060 households across New York State. Administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s Office of Community Renewal, the funds will assist low- and moderate-income families with home repairs, accessibility modifications, safety upgrades, replacement of manufactured homes, and down payment assistance for first-time buyers. This initiative aligns with Governor Hochul’s $25 billion comprehensive Housing Plan, which aims to create and preserve 100,000 affordable homes statewide.

Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects and developed by Fortress Investment Group, Bilgili, and Bizzi & Partners, the 88-story structure will yield 272 condominium units in studio to three-bedroom layouts. The property is located at the corner of Greenwich and Thames Streets, just south of Liberty Park and the World Trade Center complex.

Developed by Simone Development Companies and Fareri Associates and designed by Design Development Architects, the park features four buildings that total 220,000 square feet of Class A office and medical space. The buildings were constructed between 1969 and 1973.

At number six on our annual countdown of the 31 tallest buildings under construction in New York is 262 Fifth Avenue, an 860-foot-tall residential skyscraper in NoMad, Manhattan. Designed by Meganom with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development, the 56-story structure will yield 26 full-floor and duplex condominium units with an average scope of 3,200 square feet, including at least one quadruplex unit. PG New York is heading the facade installation. The tower stands on a 5,000-square-foot plot at the southwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street.

Its design pays homage to the site’s history as a former sugar cane processing facility and later a beer distribution center, and notably will creates new public open spaces along Newtown Creek, including the recently opened Malt Drive Park.
