Three-Story, 165,000 Square-Foot Building At 170 53rd Street Getting Repositioned, Sunset Park

AP&G Company is planning to reposition the three-story, 165,000 square-foot manufacturing building at 170 53rd Street, in Sunset Park, located three blocks west of the R train’s stop at 53rd Street. The company will be vacating the building in order to relocate, and plans to market the renovated property to commercial or manufacturing tenants. The building features 20-foot-high ceilings and a unique 50-foot glass atrium.


550 West 20th Street

Reveal For Conversion Of Eight-Story Correctional Facility At 550 West 20th Street, West Chelsea

Back in February of 2014, a number of developers toured the former Bayview Correctional Facility, an eight-story, 100,000 square-foot complex, at 550 West 20th Street, in West Chelsea, after the city issued a request for proposals just months earlier. Now, Empire State Development has awarded NoVo Foundation a 99-year lease to redevelop the property, according to Commercial Observer. NoVo Foundations and the Goren Group plan to transform the building into the Women’s Building, which will house a women’s rights organization. The project will include community space, art installations, and a restaurant.


45-26 51st Street

Four-Story Self-Storage Facility Coming To 45-26 51st Street, Sunnyside

James Coakley, doing business as an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, 65,900 square-foot self storage facility at 45-26 51st Street, in Sunnyside, two blocks south of the 7 train’s stop at 52nd Street. The building will have 34,141 square feet of commercial space for rentable storage use. Virginia-based Butz Wilbern, LTD, is the applicant of record, and an existing single-story warehouse building must first be demolished.


5 East 59th Street

Nine-Story Building At 5 East 59th Street Getting Office & Retail Conversion, Midtown

GreenOak Real Estate and Capstone Equities are transforming the nine-story, 40,000 square-foot former Playboy Club building at 5 East 59th Street, right around the corner from Central Park, into an eight-story structure fitted for a single commercial tenant, according to Commercial Observer. The building will feature retail and showroom space on the lower levels, and office space on the upper floors. The property was purchased for $85 million over the summer, and Newmark Grub Knight Frank are marketing the building’s lease.


2505 Bruckner Boulevard

Extell Acquires Large East Bronx Commercial Development Site At 2505 Bruckner Boulevard

Extell Development has purchased the East Bronx property at 2505 Bruckner Boulevard, in Schuylerville, from Lightstone Group for $41 million. The development site is currently occupied by the former 14-screen Whitestone Mutiplex Cinemas building, which Lightstone shut down in 2013 with plans to build a shopping complex. The one-million square-foot property boasts roughly 829,000 square feet of commercial development rights, according to The Real Deal.
