The Alloy Block’s 505 State Street Approaches Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 19 on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 505 State Street, a 482-foot-tall residential tower in The Alloy Block complex in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed and developed by Alloy Development, the 44-story structure will yield 441 rental units, with 45 reserved for affordable housing, and will be fully powered by electricity. The five-building Alloy Block master plan will comprise a total of 850 units with 200 permanently affordable apartments, 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, 50,000 square feet of retail space, 500 bicycle parking spaces, two Passive House public schools designed by Architecture Research Office, and space for a local cultural institution. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for 505 State Street, which was formerly addressed as 100 Flatbush Avenue and is bound by Flatbush Avenue to the northeast, Third Avenue to the northwest, and State Street to the southwest.

15 Hanover Place Nears Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

The 24th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 15 Hanover Place, a 463-foot-tall residential tower nearing completion in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Lonicera Partners, the 34-story structure will span 295,000 square feet and yield 314 apartments, with 95 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Rabina is the co-developer and Noble Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which was formerly addressed as 23 Hanover Place and is located at the corner of Livingston Street and Hanover Place.

Construction Begins on All-Electric Residential Building at 89 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn

RXR has broken ground on a 30-story all-electric residential building at 89 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the project is RXR’s fourth residential development in Downtown Brooklyn, and will feature 324 housing units, of which 98 will be rent-stabilized.

Housing Lottery Launches for 505 State Street in Downtown Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 505 State Street, a 44-story mixed-use building at 100 Flatbush Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed and developed by Alloy Development, the structure yields 440 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 45 units for residents at 40 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $29,109 to $127,100.

New Renderings Revealed For 9 Chapel Street in Downtown Brooklyn

New renderings have been revealed for 9 Chapel, a 14-story residential building under construction at 9 Chapel Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Kane Architecture and Urban Design (Kane AUD) with SO-IL as the design architect, and developed by Tankhouse Development, the topped-out 130-foot-tall structure will yield 27 condominium units with an average scope of 1,340 square feet. KSK Construction Group is the general contractor and 219 JSP LLC is the owner of the property, which is alternately addressed as 219 Jay Street and bound by Concord Street to the north, Chapel Street to the south, and Jay Street to the west.

Excavation Set to Begin at 55 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Excavation is set to begin at 55 Willoughby Street, the site of a 38-story residential tower in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Colberg Architecture and developed in a joint venture by Lonicera Partners and Rabina, the structure will yield 295 apartments with 89 units reserved for affordable housing, as well as 3,500 square feet of retail space and more than 12,000 square feet of amenity space for residences. Alba Services is the demolition contractor for the property, which sits on an interior lot between Jay and Lawrence Streets.

Brooklyn’s One Willoughby Square Scores Highest LEED Interior Rating in USA

Downtown Brooklyn’s One Willoughby Square high-rise has achieved the highest LEED Platinum interior score in the country. Designed by FXCollaborative for JEMB Realty, the 34-story office tower comprises 40,000 square feet, an amenity suite, and a collection of high-efficiency systems that improve the structure’s energy performance, as well as the interior air quality.

111 Willoughby Street Prepares For Vertical Construction in Downtown Brooklyn

Foundation work is finishing up on 111 Willoughby Street, a 40-story residential tower in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by GF55 Architects and developed by The Michaels Organization, Triangle Equities, and Geolo Capital, the 437-foot-tall structure will yield 205,000 square feet with 227 rental units, a 20,000-square-foot ministry center for the St. Boniface parish, and 1,814 square feet of commercial space. ZDG, LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located by the intersection of Willoughby Street to the south and Duffield Street to the east.

The Paxton Wraps Up Construction at 540 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction is finishing up on The Paxton, a 43-story mixed-use skyscraper at 540 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Jenel Management, the 511-foot-tall structure spans 330,000 square feet and will yield 327 rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 137,075 square feet of office space and 33,000 square feet of retail space in the multi-story podium. MNS is handling sales and marketing for the homes at the property, which is located by the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street.
