It’s been more than two years since we’ve heard any news about 456 Greenwich Street, a large eight-story hotel development that’s been inactive since the extant structures were demolished. The silence was broken Friday, December 22nd, when Caspi Development, Mactaggart Family & Partners, and Barone Management celebrated the official groundbreaking in Tribeca.
Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 396 South 5th Street, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The site is a block away from the Hewes Street Subway Station, occasionally serviced by the J, M, and Z trains. Four blocks away is the Broadway Subway Station, serviced by the G train, which is one quick stop from the Metropolitan Avenue Subway Station, where one can transfer to the L train. BQBP Inc will be responsible for the development.
Permits have been filed for a five-story private school at 1711 Coney Island Avenue, in Midwood, Brooklyn. The site is six blocks away from the Avenue M Subway Station, serviced by the Q trains. Joe Moinian will be at the helm for the project, according to The Real Deal. The developer was last in the news late November for intending to secure a $3 billion debt-and-equity package for his project at 3 Hudson Boulevard.
While retail is commonplace in New York City’s new developments, supermarkets are slightly more rare. Today, YIMBY has the scoop for a proposal to add the “Washington Avenue Food Market” to 35 Underhill Avenue, in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
Back in August, YIMBY reported on apparent progress on the site of the Vehicle Security Center and future Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, on the site of the old temporary PATH Station. Unfortunately, while steel began to rise as summer turned to fall and reached street-level by November, December has seemingly brought a freeze to the pace of progress.
