Design Competition to Reclad 58-Story MetLife Building At 200 Park Avenue

Metals in Construction is launching a competition to reclad 200 Park Avenue, a.k.a the MetLife Building, which is situated directly behind Grand Central Terminal. Architects and engineers are being asked to submit plans for an updated, eco-friendly and efficient façade that would also retain the building’s heritage. 200 Park is a hulking 58-story, 3-million square-foot office building completed in 1963. Submissions are due February 1st, 2016, and $15,000 will be awarded to the team with the most innovative design.

New Rendering, Details For Seven-Story, 30-Unit Mixed-Use Project At 465 Pacific Street, Boerum Hill

After revealing the first rendering for the building, YIMBY reported on the summer ground-breaking of 472 Atlantic Avenue/465 Pacific Street, in Boerum Hill, and now The New York Times has a day-time image of the project, along with new details. Condominiums will come in one- to five-bedroom configurations, though the majority will be family-sized with three bedrooms, measuring roughly 1,400 square feet apiece. Stribling Marketing Associates is the broker, Avery Hall Investments and ARIA Development Group are developing, and Morris Adjmi Architects is designing, with completion currently anticipated for the winter of 2017.

Permits Filed: 2251 Nostrand Avenue, Flatbush

The longtime shopping hub at the corner of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues in Flatbush has attracted a slew of major commercial tenants in recent years, including Target and Blink Fitness. Now it looks like the area will get even more retail at 2251 Nostrand Avenue, just south of the 600,000-square-foot Triangle Junction mall that helped kickstart the neighborhood’s commercial renewal when it opened in 2008.
