Proposals from the Francesca Russo Architect design team reveal plans to modernize exterior elements of an aging Greek Revival-style building at 5 West 16th Street. Located near Union Square Park, the building was originally completed in 1846 as a private residence. The home was later designated an official city landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in June 1986.

Funding Secured for Brooklyn’s First Supertall, at 9 DeKalb Avenue

Developer JDS has secured $664 million in funding for the construction of 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. The future residential skyscraper will soon rise 1,066 feet and become the tallest structure in Brooklyn, as well as the first tower in the outer boroughs to pass the 300-meter “supertall” threshold. The loan is coming from Otéra Capital Inc. and Silverstein Capital Partners. SHoP Architects is designing the building, which is located at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Fleet Street, and sits across the street from the City Point complex. The development is expected to contain 425 rental apartments and 150 condominiums.

Brick Facade Progressing at 138 North 10th Street in Williamsburg

Construction has topped out and façade work is underway at 138 North 10th Street, a six-story warehouse-inspired condominium complex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The project is being designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Eli Hamway and Michael Shamah of Eastern Capital Group. The structure will contain nine loft homes with two- and three-bedroom units, as well as two lower triplexes. Halstead Property Development Marketing’s The Aguayo Team is marketing and handling sales, with units starting at $1.7 million. The site is located on North 10th Street between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue.
