Foundation work is continuing at 14 Fifth Avenue, the site of a 19-story residential building in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Hill West Architects and developed by Madison Realty Capital, which purchased the 5,255-square-foot plot for $27.5 million in 2015, the 241-foot-tall structure will yield 20 condominiums. CM & Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 8th and East 9th Streets, just north of Washington Square Park.

Construction Begins on a New Multifamily Rental Building at 70 Pier Street in Yonkers

Developers and local officials recently gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction at 70 Pier Street, a new multifamily rental property in Yonkers, New York. Led by Ginsburg Development Companies, the four-story building is located in the city’s Ludlow neighborhood and will eventually contain 36 rental apartments, ground-floor retail space, and parking garage for up to 35 vehicles.

Permits Filed for 11 Gerry Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a ten-story mixed-use building at 11 Gerry Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located between Harrison Avenue and Flushing Avenue, the lot is steps from the Flushing Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train. Rafael Rabinowitz of Galaxy Developers LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

125 West 57th Street Rises Above Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has risen above street level on 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building along Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy Properties ABR Partners and Cain International, the 440-foot-tall structure will yield 185,000 square feet of Class A office space and a new ground-floor home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883. Leading Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc‘s One57 and SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street.

Construction has broken ground on a three-story rental building at 665 Second Avenue in Long Branch, New Jersey. Designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners and developed by Inspired by Somerset Development, the structure will yield 22 apartments, an indoor parking garage with electric vehicle charging stations, and 800 square feet of retail space.

350-Unit Residential Development Unveiled for at 499 President Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

This week The Brodsky Organization announced the acquisition of 499 President Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The developer will partner with Avery Hall Investments to begin construction on a mixed-use multi-family residential building. When completed, 499 President Street will include 350 market-rate and affordable rental apartments, a range of resident amenities, and 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. SLCE Architects is responsible for the design.

The Gilder Center Opens at The American Museum of Natural History on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

YIMBY attended the grand opening of the Gilder Center, a new five-story wing of the American Museum of Natural History at 415 Columbus Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang with Davis Brody Bond as the executive architect, the $465 million project involved the construction of 190,000 square feet of new exhibition space and 40,000 square feet of renovations to existing portions of the museum. Buro Happold was the façade consultant; W&W Glass, LLC supplied and installed the engineered custom curtain wall facades, skylights and entrance systems; Arup performed structural engineering and acoustic and audiovisual consulting; and Tishman Construction Company of New York was the general contractor for the facility, which is located by the intersection of Columbus Avenue and West 79th Street.

Revel Opens New York’s Largest Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Hub at ‘The Dime’ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The Dime Building at 275 South Fifth Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is now home to the largest ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in New York State. Building owners Charney Companies and Tavros Capital recently announced the deal with electric vehicle company Revel, which will also relocate its corporate headquarters to the development.

Housing Lottery Launches for Pacific Park at 595 Dean Street in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 595 Dean Street, a two-tower mixed-use development part of Pacific Park in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by TF Cornerstone, the structure yields with 558 market-rate apartments, 240 affordable housing units, a 60,000-square-foot public plaza, and 3,412 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 240 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $78,515 to $187,330.
