Retail Renovation and Expansion Planned At 399 Knickerbocker Avenue, Bushwick

Property owner Jenel Management is clearing out the three-story retail building at 399 Knickerbocker Avenue, in northern Bushwick, ahead of planned renovations, according to DNAinfo. The structure will be expanded and transformed into a 42,500 square-foot commercial building, featuring six retail units — three on the ground floor, followed by two on the second floor and one on the third. Adrian Figueroa’s Hudson Square-based SRA Architecture is designing, and the current retail tenant is preparing to vacate.


242 Bedford Avenue

Two-Story Whole Foods Building At 242 Bedford Avenue Now Fully Cladded, Williamsburg

Earlier this spring, glass installation began at the two-story, 50,000 square-foot Whole Foods building at 242 Bedford Avenue, in northwestern Williamsburg, and now the building’s exterior appears to be nearing completion, Brownstoner reports. At the end of Berry Street, the building takes on a more industrial look, clad in brick rather than Bedford Avenue’s glassy envelope. Aurora Capital Associates and Midtown Equities are developing, and opening is expected in the spring of 2016.


Four-Story Retail Redevelopment Underway At 160-16 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica Center

United American Land is currently redeveloping three buildings in Jamaica at 161-02, 160-08 and 160-16 Jamaica Avenue, two blocks from the E, J and Z trains’ stop at Jamaica Center/Parsons Boulevard. According to the New York Post, the structures will be connected and transformed into one four-story, 150,000 square feet commercial-retail building. Unfortunately, the 10-story building at No. 160-16 will be shortened to four stories, but No. 160-08 will retain its façade and expand by one story. Burlington Coat Factory is leasing 70,000 square feet on the upper floors, and opening is expected early in 2017. GreenbergFarrow is designing.


144 Fulton Street

Crown Acquisitions Purchases Retail Property At 144 Fulton Street, Financial District

Crown Acquisitions has purchased the three-story retail building at 144 Fulton Street, in the Financial District, for $25 million, according to New York Daily News. Plans for the property have not been disclosed, but the site is primed for redevelopment, and has some of the best transit access in New York, directly adjacent to the Fulton Center and just two blocks from the WTC Transit Hub.


159 Ludlow Street

Two-Story Retail Building Planned At 159 Ludlow Street, Lower East Side

Hesky Haim, operating under an anonymous LLC, has filed applications for a two-story, 2,125 square-foot commercial building at 159 Ludlow Street, on the Lower East Side. Both floors, in addition to a cellar level, will be designated for retail, and the building will stand 96 feet tall, boasting incredible ceiling heights. Wayne Norbeck’s DXA Studio is the applicant of record.
