Renovation of 1100 Avenue of The Americas Making Progress in Midtown

Exterior work is progressing on 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story office building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue, directly across from Bryant Park. Brookfield Properties is the developer of the 386,190-square-foot structure, which is receiving an interior renovation and façade redesign by MdeAS Architects. As revealed in renderings released last fall, the new glass curtain wall will be much lighter and more transparent than the original reflective envelope. The property will contain 357,940 square feet of commercial office space and 11,239 square feet of ground-floor retail area. Aecom Tishman is the general contractor.

128 East 28th Street Awaits Façade Installation in NoMad

Construction appears to have stalled at 128 East 28th Street, an eight-story, ten-unit building in NoMad. Not much progress has occurred since our last update in late December, when the reinforced concrete superstructure was nearing topping out, and work has yet to begin on the undulating metal and glass curtain wall. TRA Studio is the designer and Sinha Development is the developer of the 80-foot-tall, 21,038-square-foot project.

Façade Work Nears Completion at 12 East 48th Street in Midtown East

Exterior work is moving along at 12 East 48th Street, a 367-foot-tall Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel in Midtown East. The 125,000-square-foot tower is designed by Handel Architects and developed by Hidrock Realty and will contain 161 guest rooms. Desimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer, The Rinaldi Group is the general contractor, and IBA Consulting & Engineering, PLLC is the envelope consultant for the edifice.
