Construction Imminent on Melrose North, an Affordable Housing Development in Morrisania

Construction is expected to begin in January on Melrose North, a residential development that will bring 171 units of supportive and affordable housing to 925 Courtlandt Avenue in South Bronx’s Morrisania neighborhood. In a partnership between developer Bronx Pro Group and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the $92 million project will be built on a vacant NYCHA waste facility site.

The 219,546-square-foot corner building is designed by Dattner Architects and co-developed by The Acacia Network and Phipps Houses and will yield a total 249 units in a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 223 apartments for residents at 30 to 110 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $14,640 to $155,100.
