Revealed: 12-Story, 305-Unit Affordable Mixed-Use Project Planned at 443 East 162nd Street, Melrose

Renderings have been revealed of the 12-story, 305-unit mixed-use project at 443 East 162nd Street, located on the corner of Brook and Elton avenues in the South Bronx’s Melrose section. The project’s developers—the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corp. (WHEDco.), BFC Partners, the the city’s Housing Preservation & Development (HPD)—broke ground on it last week, Curbed NY reported.




3258 Waterbury Avenue

Twin Two-Story, Two-Family Houses Coming to 3258 Waterbury Avenue, Country Club

A Valhalla, N.Y.-based property owner has filed applications for two two-story, two-family houses at 3258 and 3260 Waterbury Avenue, in the East Bronx’s Country Club section. The new buildings will measure 4,232 square feet and 4,225 square feet, respectively. Across both, the full-floor residential units should average 1,774 square feet apiece, indicative of apartments with family-sized configurations. Each structure will also come with three off-street parking spaces. Gino O. Longo’s College Point-based firm is the architect of record. The 8,123-square-foot lot is occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in September.

Eight-Story, 35-Unit Residential Building Filed at 237 West 167th Street, Highbridge

Great Neck, N.Y.-based Global Management has filed applications for an eight-story, 35-unit residential building at 237 West 167th Street, in the West Bronx’s Highbridge section. The project will encompass 27,906 square feet and rise 74 feet to its roof. Its residential units should average 698 square feet apiece, which means rental apartments are likely in the works. Mohammad R. Badaly’s Mount Vernon, N.Y.-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 50-foot-wide, 7,500-square-foot lot is vacant.
