Aloft Hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue Races Toward Final Levels in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Construction is closing in on topping out at 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 642-foot-tall Aloft Hotel in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 51-story skyscraper will yield 379 rooms as well as a business center, a ballroom, and a fourth-floor restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace. The Midtown property is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center, and is expected to cost around $368 million.

Work is wrapping up on 140 West 28th Street, a 470-foot-tall dual-brand Marriott Hotel in the Midtown, Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect for Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 46-story structure yields 173,000 square feet and 531 guest rooms across both a TownePlace Suites and Springhill Suites. Omnibuild is in charge of constructing the edifice, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in the Flower District.

Exterior work is nearing completion on the 476-foot-tall Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway in NoMad. Designed by Stantec and developed by Lam Group, the 38-story rectilinear tower will yield 300,000 square feet and 460 hotel rooms managed by Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group. The property sits on an angled trapezoidal plot bound by Broadway, West 29th Street, and West 30th Street. This will be the first Virgin Hotel establishment in New York City.

OMA released a new preliminary rendering of 41-47 West 57th Street, which YIMBY reported on last week when it was heard that the planned mixed-use 1,100-foot-high supertall would rise along Billionaires’ Row over West 57th Street over the next several years. Crain’s reported that Sedesco will also offer to bring in a pair of new ADA-accessible elevators to the nearby 57th Street station on Sixth Avenue in exchange for an additional 52,000 square feet of space for the potential 443,100-square-foot Midtown, Manhattan project. About 237,100 square feet will be devoted toward residential usage with 119 units, while nearly 205,100 square feet of commercial space will make room for a 158-room hotel and a 10,212-square-foot restaurant. 41-47 West 57th Street is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and will include ground-floor frontage on both West 57th and 58th Streets.
