New Façade Proposed for 1030 Amsterdam Avenue in Morningside Heights, Manhattan

Mayor Adams Announces $30 Million for Queens Boulevard Safety Improvements

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced the award of nearly $30 million in federal funding for safety improvements along Queens Boulevard in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. This grant, part of the “Safe Streets and Roads for All” program, will be funded through the approximately $1 billion in federal infrastructure funding that has been secured under the Adams administration.

East Midtown Greenway Opens along East River Waterfront in Midtown, Manhattan

Sustainable design and engineering firm Stantec recently celebrated the grand opening of the East Midtown Greenway in Midtown East, Manhattan. Constructed by Skanska, the esplanade is the second of three sections of the East Midtown Waterfront Project and adds nearly 2,000 linear feet of bikeways and walking paths to the East River waterfront.

This development, part of New York State’s Division of Housing and Community Renewal Vital Brooklyn Initiative, is set to transform an underutilized parking lot at 832 Rutland Road into a hub that offers affordable housing and commercial spaces and community spaces.

The loan was arranged by JLL Capital Markets and provided by Centennial Bank. This financing marks an important step toward the development of the planned 425,000-square-foot industrial site located at 30-02 Whitestone Expressway.

To spearhead this effort, Suffolk has appointed Steven Burke as senior director of sustainability and Michael Swenson as director of sustainability for Suffolk Design, the contractor’s design-assist business unit.

A rendering has been revealed for 215-20 Northern Boulevard, a five-story mixed-use building in Bayside, Queens. Designed by Gerald Caliendo Architects and developed by Sam Eshaghoff’s West Egg Development, the structure will yield 38 units and 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with 194 feet of frontage. Lions Group is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Northern Boulevard and 215th Place.
