The burgeoning new immigrant population in Woodside, Jackson Heights and Corona has driven a small construction boom in those neighborhoods, and one developer has decided to capitalize on the area’s growth with an eight-story hotel at 64-06 Queens Boulevard in Woodside.
Property owner Lakhi Zoria, head of Zoria Construction, has filed applications for a six-story, 12-unit residential building for the vacant lot at 170-19 89th Avenue, in Downtown Jamaica. Anand Solanki is designing the project, and the site’s former two-story building was demolished in 2012.
Long Island City’s mixed-use zoning has produced high rises filled with apartments and office space, as well as plenty of smaller residential buildings with ground-floor commercial space, but now the industrial neighborhood might get its first crop of new townhouses in half a century. Plans were filed on Friday for 12 two-family townhouses at 45-35 11th Street, a couple blocks from the Court Square subway stop.
Property owner Edward Sze has filed applications for six three-story, single-family homes spanning the vacant lots at 102-04 – 102-24 Dunton Court, in Old Howard Beach. The six residential units will be split across a total of 11,500 square feet of space, and Avid Designs is the archiect.
GP Keystand LLC has filed applications for a five-story, 10-unit mixed-use building at 31-19 37th Avenue, in northern Long Island City. The project will span 10,200 square feet, with nearly 2,400 square feet designated for retail use, and Angelo Ng + Anthony Ng Architects Studio is designing. An existing single-story commercial building must first be demolished.
