Governor Hochul Reveals $9.5B Expansion Project for JFK Airport

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has reached an agreement with a coalition of financial sponsors to complete a $9.5 billion expansion of JFK International Airport. On December 13, Governor Kathy Hochul officially announced the project, which will include major infrastructure upgrades, the replacement of several aging terminals, new retail destinations, security improvements, and sustainability enhancements.

52-03 Center Boulevard’s Exterior Nears Completion in Hunters Point South, Queens

Number 27 on YIMBY’s construction countdown is 52-03 Center Boulevard, a 587-foot-tall, 56-story residential skyscraper in the two-tower Hunter’s Point South complex. Developer TF Cornerstone recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the master plan, which is designed by ODA Architects with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and includes the 46-story, 475-foot-tall 52-41 Center Boulevard. The mixed-use property sits along the East River and is bound by Center Boulevard to the west, Borden Avenue to the north, 2nd Street to the east, and 54th Avenue to the south.

The Department of City Planning is now reviewing proposals to construct an eight-story mixed-use building at 146-93 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Springfield Gardens, Queens. Before the project can break ground, the agency must approve a zoning map and text amendments that would permit the construction of a mixed-use residential property, which would exceed currently allowable density and use-type. The project will also be subject to an 18-month Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) to elicit feedback from local community groups and residents.
