Renderings have been revealed for The Cube, a 14-story residential building planned for 42-53 24th Street in downtown Long Island City, Queens. Designed by MY Architect PC and developed by Chris Jiashu Xu of United Construction & Development, the structure will yield 217 condominium units, ground-floor retail space, and enclosed parking. The site is located at the northeast corner of 24th Street and 43rd Avenue.
The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is planning to issue a Request For Expressions of Interests (RFEI) on behalf of the city for 44-36 Vernon Boulevard, a six-story commercial building in Long Island City, Queens. The RFEI is an appeal to the public for input on the redevelopment of the 672,000-square-foot structure, which currently serves as the central hub for New York City’s Department of Education. Based on the public feedback, the city will decide whether to embark on a full or partial transformation of the property into revamped commercial, light industrial, or community space. The redevelopment could also include the addition of waterfront access under the OneLIC Long Island City Neighborhood Plan initiative by the Department of City Planning (DCP). The property is located along Anable Basin at the intersection of Vernon Boulevard and 44th Drive.
Construction is coming to a close on the Northern Tower, a 13-story hotel and residential building at 35-32 Leavitt Street in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Raymond Chan Architect and developed by Century Development Group, which signed an agreement in late 2016 with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the 152-foot-tall mixed-use structure will span 228,000 square feet, with around 101,000 square feet for a 244-room Westin hotel, 2,270 square feet for community facility use, and 42,100 square feet of residential space. The residential component comprise 49 condominium units on the top three floors. The property is alternately addressed as 137-61 Northern Boulevard and located at the corner of Northern Boulevard and Leavitt Street.
Work is wrapping up on The Prince, a 15-story residential building at 134-03 35th Avenue in Flushing, Queens. Designed by My Architect PC and developed by United Construction Development Group, the structure will yield 120 condominium units in one- to two-bedroom layouts. C&G Empire Realty, LLC is listed as the owner of the property, which is alternately addressed as 33-71 Prince Street and located at the corner of 35th Avenue and Prince Street.
Excavation and pilings are progressing at 37-18 138th Street, the site of a nine-story commercial building in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Akaia Architecture with Angelo Ng & Anthony Ng Architects Studio as the architect of record, and developed by New Age Developers LLC, the 120-foot-tall structure will yield 65,000 square feet of commercial space to be occupied by restaurants, retail, offices, and a rooftop bar, as well as 27,000 square feet of medical office space. The property is bound by 37th Avenue to the north, 38th Avenue to the south, and 138th Street to the east.
