Permits have been filed for an 11-story mixed-use building at 69-65 Yellowstone Boulevard, in Forest Hills, Queens. The site is just three blocks away from the Forest Hills 71^st Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the E, F, M, and R trains, which offer a twenty-minute commute into Manhattan. Flushing Meadows Corona Park is another few blocks past the subway, and is home to the Queens Museum, Zoo and Botanical Garden. Slate Property Group will be responsible for development.

Permits Filed for 82-12 and 82-14 31st Avenue, Jackson Heights, Queens

Permits have been filed for two residential buildings at 82-12 and 82-14 31^st Avenue, in Jackson Heights, Queens. The project will be a twenty-five minute walk to the nearest two stations, the Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights Subway Station, serviced by the E, F, M, R trains, and the 82^nd Street Station, serviced by the 7 trains. Earth and Planet Realty is developing.

Permits Filed for 19-14 21st Road, Ditmars-Steinway, Queens

Permits have been filed for a new three-story building at 19-14 21st Road, in Ditmars-Steinway, Queens. The site is two blocks away from Astoria Park, along the East River. Though the neighborhood is largely residential, this particular location is just a couple blocks away from several stores, a market, and the P.S. 122 Mamie Fay. AKI Development is responsible for the project.

Renderings Revealed for Three-Building Project at 90-02 168th Street, Jamaica, Queens

The Greater Jamaica Development Corporation (GJDC) has revealed a major joint venture between BRP Companies and Wharton Properties to purchase and develop a site located at 90-02 168th Street, in Jamaica, Queens. An open-air parking lot will be replaced with a new building totaling over 500,000 square feet, which will also include over 300 residential units, as well as 70,000 square feet of retail space. Perkins Eastman is behind the design.

Landmarked Rufus King Park in Queens to Get New Entrances and Other Upgrades

Most of the big news about landmarked sites comes from Brooklyn and Manhattan. There isn’t much in Queens that makes headlines; for example, only two of the 26 sites designated from the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s 95-item backlog were in Queens County. Today, however, we have news about a landmarked park in Jamaica.

A 5,229-square-foot commercial space sits at the ground floor, with eight residences above spanning 11,408 square feet, averaging 1,426 square feet apiece. The project is designed by Little Neck-based Edward Liu Architect and owned by Hai Min Liu of Golden Trend NY LLC.

The 39,579-square-foot hotel at 37-11 23rd Street is on track to join northern Long Island City’s mushrooming crop of lodgings. Construction permits categorize the 93-unit property as a “transient hotel,” a term generally used to describe shelters. The 11-story building towers over the industrial northwest corner of Long Island City.

Study Says $19 Billion Development Could Be Built on Top of Sunnyside Yards in Queens

The city is resurrecting a century-old proposal to deck over the active Sunnyside Yards in Queens and develop new housing, retail, and schools on top of it. The New York City Economic Development Corporation released a study this week examining whether the project is feasible and just how much it’ll cost.
