Governor Cuomo’s ‘Empire Station Complex’ Masterplan Enters Next Phase of Development

At the beginning of this year, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a major redevelopment initiative for the area surrounding New York City’s Pennsylvania Station. Referred to as the “Empire State Complex,” the project team is now completing a final scope of work, which will take into consideration the many comments received from community activists, experts, and officials since a scoping meeting on July 20, 2020.

TSX Broadway Demolition Passes Halfway Mark in Times Square

Demolition is moving along steadily at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, where the 46-story tower has been reduced to around half its former size. The 30-year-old, 470-foot-tall steel superstructure formerly housed the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton and will be replaced by a new hotel dubbed TSX Broadway. Designed by PBDW ArchitectsMancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman, and developed by L&L Holding CompanyMaefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the new structure will rise 46 stories and span 550,000 square feet.

Hard Rock Hotel’s Glass Façade Closes In on Final Levels at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square

The Hard Rock Hotel’s glass curtain wall is closing in on the final floors of the 35-story project at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square. Developed by Extell and Hard Rock International, the structure made incredible progress over the past few months, reaching its 442-foot-tall parapet in the blink of an eye. The 291,000-square-foot development will contain 446 guest rooms, two entertainment venues, flexible meeting spaces, round-the-clock dining options, a fitness center, and a rooftop lounge.
