Renderings Reveal Commercial Renovation to the Brill Building at 1619 Broadway in Midtown

Renderings from Bruno Kearney Architects reveal a new TD Bank retail location within the historic Brill Building at 1619 Broadway in Midtown, Manhattan. Located on the corner of West 49th Street, the property was originally constructed around 1931 and was designated a landmark in 2010 for its ornate Art Deco façade. The prominence of the building requires approval of all proposed work by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC).

MTA and SL Green Debut Grand Central Subway Entrance at One Vanderbilt Avenue

This week, the MTA and SL Green debuted a new entrance to the Grand Central-42nd Street subway station at One Vanderbilt Avenue, a 77-story supertall office skyscraper in Midtown. The new entrance is the latest component of SL Green’s $220 million transit improvement project bundled into development of the commercial project.

New York Korea Center’s Distinctive Form Taking Shape at 122-126 East 32nd Street in Murray Hill

Construction is continuing on the New York Korea Center, a highly distinctive 120-foot-tall building at 122-126 East 32nd Street in Murray Hill. Designed by Samoo Architects and Engineers (SAMOO) for Level Group, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York, purchased the property for $15.8 million in March 2008, including the use of nearly 4,500 square feet of air rights. The project, which broke ground in June 2018, is planned to yield 36,500 square feet.

‘Tower A’ Passes the Halfway Mark at 601 West 29th Street in Hudson Yards

Construction has passed the halfway mark at 601 West 29th Street, a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards and number 20 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York. Referred to as “Tower A” in a two-building development along with the adjacent 606 West 30th Street, the 58-story structure is designed by FXCollaborative for Douglaston Development and sits along Eleventh Avenue on the border of West Chelsea.

Demolition Progressing for SOM’s 62-Story Skyscraper at 12 West 57th Street in Midtown

Demolition is continuing at 12 West 57th Street in Midtown, the site of a 672-foot-tall skyscraper that comes in at number 21 on our countdown of the tallest projects underway in the city. The 52-story project is designed by Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill (SOM) and is being developed by Sheldon Solow of Solow Management Corp., who filed permits back in 2019. A preliminary rendering was revealed in early May, showing a slender black glass monolith rising behind a white glass and marbled stone podium. The development required the demolition of three low-rise structures spanning from 10 to 20 West 57th Street.

YIMBY Scopes Views From Rose Hill at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad

Façade work is getting closer to completion on Rose Hill, a 639-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad and number 23 on YIMBY’s 2020 construction countdown. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by Rockefeller Group, the 45-story reinforced concrete superstructure will yield 123 condominiums marketed by CORE Real Estate. The earth-tone envelope features a number of Art Deco-inspired motifs and architectural forms that aim to both blend with the Manhattan skyline while distinguishing it from other new nearby developments in the neighborhood. Sales have already launched for the homes ranging from one- to four-bedroom units and start at $1.385 million.

Newmark Reveals Next Phase of Upgrades for The Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway in Times Square

Newmark has revealed a new collection of architectural renderings that illustrate the next phase of upgrades to The Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway in Times Square. In collaboration with Rosemark Management, Levin Management, and interior architects MKDA, the upgrades include Class A office suites ranging in size from 1,000 square feet up to 45,000 square feet, new corridors, and sweeping views of the New York City skyline.

Façade Work Continues on the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway in NoMad

Façade work is getting closer to completion on the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway, a 580-foot-tall skyscraper in NoMad and number 27 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the city. Designed by Rafael Vinoly and developed by Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties, the 40-story tower will yield 150,000 square feet and 250 guest rooms. The project is located at the intersection of Broadway and West 28th Street.

Pelli Clarke Pelli’s 555 West 38th Street Rapidly Ascends in Hudson Yards

Construction passes the halfway mark at 555 West 38th Street, a 570-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards and number 29 on our countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose with SLCE as the architect of record, the 52-story project will yield 598 rental units. The property is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 38th Street and West 39th Street, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Ornamental Elements Installed on Nearly Finished Turkevi Center at 821 First Avenue in Turtle Bay

Number 30 on our countdown of the tallest projects under construction in New York is the Turkevi Center, a 563-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 821 First Avenue in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay.
