The Frick Collection’s Expansion Continues to Take Shape at 1 East 70th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Work is progressing on the renovation and expansion of The Frick Collection, an 88-year-old art museum at 1 East 70th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects with Beyer Blinder Belle as the architect of record, the $160 million project involves the construction of a seven-story extension that will increase the historic institution’s footprint by 18,000 square feet to 197,000 square feet, as well as the renovation of the existing structure that will improve its infrastructure and accessibility. Sciame Construction is the general contractor for the undertaking, which broke ground in May 2021 after gaining approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The Frick Collection is bound by East 71st Street to the north, East 70th Street to the south, and Fifth Avenue and Central Park to the west.

Gansevoort Peninsula Park Nears Completion on the West Village Waterfront, Manhattan

Work is nearing completion on Gansevoort Peninsula Park, a new 5.5-acre public recreational green space along the Hudson River waterfront off the West Village. Designed by James Corner Field Operations and commissioned by the Hudson River Park Trust, the park will contain a full-size soccer field surrounded by lush landscaping and shrubbery, numerous pathways, stepped seating, a children’s playground, kayak slips, a salt marsh, a dog run, viewing platforms, and Manhattan’s first public sandy beach. The site is located next to Pier 53, directly across from the Whitney Museum of American Art along Hudson River Park.

JPMorgan Chase’s Headquarters Approaches Supertall Status at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction is climbing higher on JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners with Adamsom Associates as the architect of record and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. JB&B is the MEP engineer and AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the full-block property, which is bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

Anagram’s Façade Nears Completion at 1 West 60th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Exterior work continues to progress on Anagram, a 25-story residential tower at 1 West 60th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by INC Architecture & Design with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the 281-foot-tall structure will span 180,813 square feet and yield 123 market-rate and affordable housing units with interiors by The Setting, as well as 20,000 square feet of retail space on the first two levels. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor and DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 1841 Broadway and located at the corner of Broadway and West 60th Street, just north of Columbus Circle and the southwest corner of Central Park.

Permits Filed for 354 West 52nd Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 354 West 52nd Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the interior lot is two blocks north of the 50th Street subway station, serviced by the C and E trains. Cadence Property Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Façade Installation Progresses on KPF’s 64 University Place in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on 64 University Place, an 11-story residential building in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Argo Real Estate and Bsafal, the 125-foot-tall structure will span 55,000 square feet and yield 28 condominium units with sales and marketing led by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of the The Eklund ǀ Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, as well as a community facility and ground-floor retail space. SPACE Copenhagen is the interior designer, Deborah Nevins is the landscape designer, and CNY Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 10th and East 11th Streets.

17 West 60th Street’s Expansion And Renovation Progresses on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Construction is moving along on 17 West 60th Street, a renovation and expansion project for the Shefa School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Dattner Architects, the project involves the construction of a four-floor, 40-foot-tall pavilion atop the parapet of the 102-year-old structure that will raise its height from 12 to 16 stories, as well as the renovation of its interiors and replacement of its façade. The Jewish academic organization purchased a ground lease at the address for $49.5 million and plans to relocate from 40 East 29th Street to the new 75,000-square-foot facility. McGowan Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Broadway and Ninth Avenue.

KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Rises Higher Above Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is steadily climbing on 520 Fifth Avenue, a 76-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,000-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 98 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Demolition Finishes at 183 Chrystie Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Designed by GF55 Partners and developed by Omnia Group and Naveh Shuster, the 175-foot-tall structure will span 75,000 square feet and yield 57 units and ground-floor retail space. Alba Services is the demolition contractor for the property, which is located between Stanton and Rivington Streets, directly across from Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

Construction Rises at 98-14 66th Avenue in Rego Park, Queens

Construction is moving along on 98-14 66th Avenue, a seven-story mixed-use building in Rego Park, Queens. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by RJ Capital Holdings, the 85-foot-tall structure will span 82,425 square feet and yield 62 units with an average span of 1,075 square feet, as well as 15,741 square feet of commercial space. KSK Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by 99th Street to the northeast, 66th Avenue to the northwest, and Queens Boulevard to the southwest.
