With its bold white brick-pattern facade soaring over the former site of the Roseland Ballroom, ARO, aka 242 West 53rd Street, is currently the 27th tallest skyscraper under construction in New York City, and perhaps the closest on the list to the finish line. It is nearing completion, with occupancy set to begin anytime now. This new 738-foot, 62-story residential skyscraper is bringing 426 apartment units to Midtown West. Its 450,000 square feet is being designed by CetraRuddy Architecture, while Algin Management is the developer. Triumph Property Group is handling the leasing of the units.

Brooklyn Point’s Rapid Ascent Continues in Downtown Brooklyn

Set to become the temporary-tallest residential building in Downtown Brooklyn, and ranking 28th among the 30 tallest skyscrapers currently under construction across the Five Boroughs, Extell’s Brooklyn Point, aka 138 Willoughby Street, has now surpassed the halfway mark in its rise. The upcoming 720-foot-tall tower is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, with SLCE Architects serving as the architect of record. Interiors are being designed by Katherine Newman, while the landscaping of the private outdoor spaces is being carried out by MNLA.

COOKFOX-Designed 25 Park Row Has Reached its Pinnacle Atop the Financial District

At the time of YIMBY’s last update on the 702-foot-tall and 50-story 25 Park Row, the tower was climbing to the final floor of its crown. Now, the 29th-tallest skyscraper currently under construction in the Five Boroughs has topped-out over City Hall Park and the Financial District, making a noticeable impact on the Lower Manhattan skyline when looking east from Broadway and City Hall Park. The building will include 110 condominiums and is being designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by L&M Development Partners, as well as the J&R Music Store founders. It took less than a year for this tower to rise to its pinnacle, while the glass and facade panels are continuing to rise into the sky.

Renderings Revealed for 185 Broadway, SL Green’s 31-Story Residential Tower Coming to The Financial District

New renderings have been revealed for 185 Broadway, which is imminently set to rise in Lower Manhattan. Designed by FX Collaborative Architects and developed by SL Green, the 31-story, 260,000 square foot, mixed-use and partially affordable building has had its site prep completed, as demolition of three previously extant low-rise structures at 183 Broadway, 187 Broadway, and 5-7 Dey Street has fully wrapped. Necessary air rights and financing to begin construction have also been obtained, and work is anticipated to start in the first quarter of 2019.

Site Work Commences for Bjarke Ingels-Designed “29th & 5th” at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad, Manhattan

Known simply as “29th & 5th,” the site for BIG’s proposed NoMad skyscraper is located at 3 West 29th Street, several blocks south of the Empire State Building, in Midtown Manhattan. The future office tower will eventually rise 34 stories and 551 feet tall, making it stand out amongst the local vicinity. Covering 300,000 square feet, it incorporates a mix of a glass curtain wall on the eastern facade with staggered open terraces for workers to step out and see the views of the skyline. HFZ Capital Group is the developer of the upcoming project.
