Mixed-Use Building Gets Glassy At 5 West 125th Street, Harlem

Excavation was well underway back in 2013, when YIMBY reported on a large commercial project planned at 5-15 West 125th Street, in central Harlem. Since then, the project’s scope has increased from four to six stories, and also now includes a residential component of 30 units. The block-thru building is expected to have 75,000 square feet of commercial space, spanning from the cellar to the third floor, and the shorter 125th Street side is now getting its façade, per Harlem+Bespoke. The taller end on 126th Street is rising at a slower pace. Rosenbaum Design Group is the architect of record.

Bedrock Tests Underway At 200 Amsterdam Avenue, Lincoln Square

Bedrock exploration is now taking place at 200 Amsterdam Avenue, near 70th Street in Lincoln Square, according to West Side Rag. Earlier this year, the site — which has 388,000 square feet of development rights — was placed on the market with an asking price of more than $400 million. It’s unknown who exactly is behind the tests, as a developer and architect have not been disclosed. Demolition permits for the existing structure have not yet been filed.

New Building Likely Planned At 2255 Broadway, Upper West Side

The three-story commercial building spanning 2251-2259 Broadway, at West 81st Street on the Upper West Side, is expected to be demolished to make way for a new development, according to West Side Rag. The retail tenants are currently in the relocation process, and developer Alchemy Properties is leasing the property from the owner. Building applications and demolition permits have not been filed yet, although the property’s unused air rights were subdivided from the existing structure in April.
