1487 First Avenue Tops Out Over Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Construction has topped out on 1487 First Avenue, a 35-story residential building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed and built by Carmel Partners, which purchased the property from Robert Chou for $73.5 million in early 2022, the 404-foot-tall structure will yield 206 condominium units, 7,120 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and a cellar level. CP VII 78th Street Owner is the owner of the property, which is located at the southwestern corner of First Avenue and East 78th Street.

The New York Foundling has completed construction on 126 West 126th Street, a 17-story residential tower in Harlem, Manhattan that plans to serve as a new model for helping youth transitioning out of foster care and the shelter system. The project was developed in collaboration between BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, Taconic Partners, and The Prusik Group. Financing came from New York State, Goldman Sachs, Santander Bank, and Redstone Equity Partners.

Renderings have been revealed for The Henry Residences, an 18-story residential building under construction at 211 West 84th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects with Hill West Architects as the architect of record and developed by Naftali Group, which purchased the property for $71 million in 2022, the 209-foot-tall structure will span 154,598 square feet and yield 45 condominium units with an average scope of 3,371 square feet, as well as 2,898 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a cellar level, and 17 enclosed parking spaces. The building has nearly 250 feet of frontage along West 84th Street from the corner of Broadway to the middle of the block.

Renovation work is nearing completion on 20 East 76th Street, a 16-story hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by the Reuben Brothers, the project involves an extensive revamp of the 98-year-old Schwartz & Gross-designed structure that formerly operated as The Surrey hotel and will yield 100 guest rooms, including 30 suites, as well as 14 condominium units on the upper floors. The property is located by the corner of East 76th Street and Madison Avenue and will operate in a collaboration with Miami-based hospitality brand Casa Tua.
