Memorial Sloan Kettering’s David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care Reaches 12 Stories at 530 East 74th Street, Upper East Side

Construction is now underway on the 12th floor of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s 22-story, 750,000-square-foot David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care facility at 530 East 74th Street, located on the corner of the FDR Drive on the Upper East Side. Progress on the project can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. At 524 East 74th Street, work still appears to be ongoing below-grade where a 16-story, 403,000-square-foot academic facility is underway for the City University of New York and the Hunter College School of Nursing. The buildings, which will stand 447 feet and 341 feet to their pinnacles, respectively, are designed by Perkins Eastman and Ennead Architects. Completion is expected in 2019.

Scoping Out The Views From 13-Story 207W79, Under Construction On The Upper West Side

An iconic Upper West Side hotel has a new neighbor. Construction is proceeding full steam ahead at 13-story-tall 207W79, and YIMBY stopped by the work site last week to see what’s what. YIMBY took a tour of 207W79, the 13-story, 19-unit condominium building under construction at 207 West 79th Street, on the Upper West Side. 207 West 79th Street is located immediately west of the Lucerne Hotel and less than a block from the 1 train. That’s on the north side of the street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue in the Upper West Side/Central Park West Historic District. Anbau Enterprises is developing the 19-unit condominium project. Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible for the design, which didn’t win over the Landmarks Preservation Commission the first time around. With the initially proposed front balconies nixed, the LPC, in 2014, approved the design under construction today.

Reveal For Four-Story, 19,000-Square-Foot Commercial Building Planned At 286 Lenox Avenue, Harlem

Last week, applications were filed for a four-story, 18,987-square-foot commercial building at 286 Lenox Avenue, located between West 124th and 125th streets in Harlem. A rendering of the project has since surfaced, courtesy of Harlem+Bespoke. Staten Island-based Gambino+LaPorta Architecture is behind the design. There plan includes retail space on the ground floor and office space on the second, third, and fourth floors. The rendering indicates Sephora, a French cosmetic company, may set up shop in the building, although nothing has been confirmed. An anonymous Midtown East-based LLC is the property owner. A two-story building must first be demolished.
