Proposal for Improvements to Harlem’s Lenox Terrace Begins Public Review

A proposal to significantly improve Harlem‘s massive Lenox Terrace housing complex has begun public review as part of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure process. Plans call for the addition of mixed-income housing, six acres of green space, and retail to the site located between Lenox Avenue and Fifth Avenue, and from 132nd to 135th Streets. Lenox Terrace comprises over six square blocks and houses more than 4,000 people across six buildings.

Condominium Sales Launch for Eleven Hancock in Central Harlem

Sales have launched at Eleven Hancock, a ground-up condominium building in Harlem. Located at 11 Hancock Place between Morningside Avenue and West 124th Street, the 12-story, 130,000-square-foot building will comprise 71 studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom residences, about half of which will have private outdoor space. Nortco Development is responsible for the project, Issac & Stern for the design, and Lemay + Escobar for the interiors. The property is situated one block to the south of the 125th Street subway station, serviced by the A, B, C, and D trains, and is near the northeast corner of Morningside Park.

Located between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Bradhurst Avenue, the lot is two blocks from the 148th Street Lenox Terminal station, serviced by the 3 train. Michael Callaghan is listed as the owner behind the applications.

200 Amsterdam Avenue Tops Out at 668 Feet Tall on the Upper West Side

Construction at 200 Amsterdam Avenue has topped out. The residential skyscraper stands 668 feet high above the Upper West Side and has secured the title of tallest structure in the neighborhood, if only temporarily. The 51-story building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and developed by SJP Properties. CetraRuddy is the lead interior designer for the 283,000-square-foot project.

200 Amsterdam Avenue Halfway to 668-Foot Pinnacle on the Upper West Side

Work on 200 Amsterdam Avenue is moving along smoothly, recently passing the halfway mark in its ascent to its 668-foot-tall parapet. The upcoming 51-story residential development, which will briefly hold the title as the tallest skyscraper on the Upper West Side, is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects , and developed by SJP Properties. The long-planned redevelopment and vertical expansion of Harlem’s Historic Victoria Theatre at 233 West 125th Street is one step closer to completion with both residential and hotel components officially topped out. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Exact Capital Group and Lam Group, the expanded property includes a new 26-story, 210-key Marriott Renaissance Hotel and an adjacent 27-story, 191-unit apartment tower.

Work Reaches Street Level for Extell’s 50 West 66th Street, the Upper West Side’s Future Tallest Building

Construction on 50 West 66th Street is moving along, and work has reached street level for the Upper West Side‘s future tallest building. Recent photos show a dense network of rebar laid out for the ground-floor slab, and bundled vertically for the construction of reinforced columns. The 775-foot-tall residential tower is being designed by Snohetta and developed by Extell.

Beckford House and Tower Continue to Take Shape at 301 East 81st Street in Yorkville, on the Upper East Side

Beckford House, located at 301 East 81st Street, and Beckford Tower at 301 East 80th Street, are two new developments in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Yorkville. Designed by Studio Sofield and SLCE Architects and developed by Icon Realty Management, both structures are topped out and their exterior brick and stone curtain walls are rising.

SJP Properties’ 200 Amsterdam Avenue Secures Another Victory Over NIMBYs on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

New York City’s Board of Standards and Appeals again upheld the development and construction of 200 Amsterdam Avenue despite years of pushback from both neighborhood groups and members of the State Supreme Court. In possible protest of state-level overreach, the board’s vote of support will allow SJP Properties to legally continue construction of the 668-foot tower.
