Views Revealed for 180 East 88th Street, the Upper East Side’s Future Tallest Building Above 72nd Street

Over the summer, Tribeca-based DDG broke ground on a 32-story tower at 180 East 88th Street, which will one day by the tallest building above 72nd Street, standing 521 feet to its pinnacle. Now, YIMBY has the first look at what the view from the upper reaches of the tower will entail. The building’s 48 condominiums will feature two-, three- and four-bedroom configurations, and a penthouse duplex will be located on the top two floors. Commercial space will also span 52,000 square feet in the base. HTO Architect is the architect of record, while DDG is designing in-house, and sales are expected to launch this fall.

Manhattan’s Mount Morris Park Historic District Gets Extension

There are 276 properties in Harlem that will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Landmarks Preservation Commission. On Tuesday, it designated the Mount Morris Park Historic District Extension. Put simply, the new historic district contains most of the blocks running from Lenox Avenue/Malcolm X. Boulevard until nearly Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard, and from the south side of West 123rd Street to the south side of West 118th Street.

Work Wraps On 15-Story, 428-Unit Project At 1047 Amsterdam Avenue, Morningside Heights

Earlier this year, YIMBY revealed renderings for the two-towered, 15-story residential development at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue, adjacent to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, at 113th Street in Morningside Heights. Construction only began late last year on the 428-unit project, but structural construction and façade work are now complete, per Curbed. The buildings are being dubbed Enclave and Cathedral, and also go by the address of 400 West 113th Street. Brodsky Organization is the developer, Handel Architects is the architect, and completion is expected this fall.

Eight-Story, 64-Unit Residential Project At 70 West 139th Street Gets Financed, Harlem

Harlen Housing Associates, owner of the 214-unit Section 8 building at 560 Lenox Avenue in northern Harlem, has been planning a second facility on the adjacent lot at 70 West 139th Street for nearly a decade. Now, construction loans have been obtained for the eight-story, 64-unit project, according to Harlem+Bespoke. The building will measure 55,355 square feet in total, which includes 1,878 square feet of community space on the ground floor, and 42 of the 64 units will be designated as affordable. Peter Franzese Design and Engineering is the applicant of record.

Six-Story, 14-Unit Residential Project Tops Out At 362 West 127th Street, Harlem

Over the summer, YIMBY brought you news of the six-story, 14-unit residential building under construction at 362 West 127th Street, in Harlem, and now the structure appears to be topped out, according to Harlem+Bespoke. The 9,020 square-foot building will contain rental units averaging 645 square feet apiece, and Staten Island-based Jock deBoer is the architect of record. The building’s façade is currently being installed, and completion in early 2016 seems likely.
