SOM-Designed 1865 Broadway Tops Out On The Upper West Side

The Upper West Side is typically off-limits to developments of major substance, which is why the recent news regarding progress on new-tallest-towers for the neighborhood at 200 Amsterdam Avenue and 50 West 66th Street is particularly positive. But in between those two towers, on the corner of West 61st Street and Broadway, YIMBY has reported extensively on 1865 Broadway, a 33-story residential tower designed by Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill, which has now reached its rooftop.

Renderings Reveal Crown of 55-Story Art Deco-Inspired 200 Amsterdam Avenue, Upper West Side

YIMBY has reported on 200 Amsterdam Avenue extensively, revealing renderings back in 2016 and then covering the start of excavation in October. Since then, Extell’s 50 West 66th Street has upstaged it as the soon-to-be tallest on the Upper West Side, but SJP Properties’ 55-story and 669-foot-tall contribution to the skyline will still be extremely impressive in its own right. Today, we have a new set of renderings that give a clearer picture of the actual skyscraper, and a close-up of its crown.

Macklowe’s 200 East 59th Street Nears Completion On The Upper East Side

Harry Macklowe’s most prominent project to date is certainly 432 Park Avenue, on the corner of 57th Street. But two blocks to the northeast, the developer’s CetraRuddy-designed tower at 200 East 59th Street is making a mark of its own, and is now almost complete. While the 35-story and 490-foot-tall tower may not be quite as tall as its sibling to the south, the concrete design has become another attractive addition to the Manhattan skyline, and today we have a look thanks to photos by DBOX.

Redesign for Hamilton Theater at 3560 Broadway Approved by Landmarks, Harlem

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a revised design by Todd Zwigard Architects for the Hamilton Theater, at 3560 Broadway, in Harlem. YIMBY first saw renderings for the project on Halloween of this year. The site will be repurposed for commercial-retail and office space within the neo-Renaissance theater, with the hope of revitalizing its prominence in the neighborhood.
