Façade Installation Begins for KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall in Midtown, Manhattan

Façade installation has begun on 520 Fifth Avenue, a rising 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 415,000 square feet with 100 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. Charles & Co. is going to be the interior designer, WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Construction is steadily climbing on 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 100 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Excavation Underway at 1487 First Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Excavation is underway at 1487 First Avenue, the site of an upcoming 24-story residential building on the border of Lenox Hill and Yorkville on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Carmel Partners, which purchased the property for $73.5 million in early 2022 from local developer Robert Chou. Previous figures put the height and floor count at 209 feet tall and 24 stories, though a new rendering spotted on site shows a much taller revision. It was last reported that there will be 94 condominium units with an average scope of around 1,900 square feet, 7,120 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and a cellar level. CP VII 78th Street Owner is the owner and Carmel Construction East is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the southwestern corner of First Avenue and East 78th Street.
