The Newark Landmarks and Historic Preservation Commission has approved Nova Towers, a two-tower residential proposal set to rise at 16-38 William Street in the Four Corners Historic District in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Designed by INOA Architecture and developed by KS Group LLC, the structures are planned to both stand 488 feet tall and yield a combined 712 residential units in studio to two-bedroom layouts. The property currently features a number of low-rise commercial structures that will have to be demolished, and is bound by William Street to the north, a surface level parking lot to the south, Chapel Court to the east, and Halsey Street to the west.
Construction nears completion on 77 Gerry Street, a five-story residential building in the Broadway Triangle section of South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Studio Gallos for Congregation Divrei Yoel, the 85-foot-tall structure will span 37,183 square feet and yield 14 units with an average scope of 1,877 square feet, as well as a 10,904-square-foot community facility on levels one through three. The formerly vacant property is situated on an interior lot between Throop and Harrison Avenues.
The affordable housing lottery has launched for 951 Bedford Avenue, an eight-story mixed-use building in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by S. Wieder Architect and developed by Jacob Hirsch of JIH Builders Group LLC, the structure yields 20 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are six units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $120,000 to $218,010.
