The race to the sky in Lower Manhattan continues at a breakneck pace, and while projects like 30 Park Place have sped right along towards completion, the process of building other new towers has not been nearly as easy. That’s especially true at 56 Leonard Street, but now YIMBY has news that the Herzog & de Meuron-designed skyscraper is finally topping-out.
A landmarked collection of buildings in the Meatpacking District is about to get a dramatic revamp. RKF and Tavros Capital Partners are marketing the 38,000-square-foot retail space on the prime corner of 14th Street, Ninth Avenue and Hudson Street, and they’ve sent along renderings of what the property could look like for a new commercial tenant.
The planned 28-story, 370-key hotel & 11-unit condo tower at 215 Chrystie Street has risen quickly this summer, and now stands five stories tall, per the latest photo from Tectonic. Located on the Lower East Side, Herzog & de Meuron designed the building, which is being developed by Ian Schrager and Witkoff. Curbed also reported on the project’s progress yesterday, and completion is currently expected in 2016.
It’s been over a year since we last checked in at 261 Hudson Street, the 12-story rental building on the rise in the western corner of Soho known as Hudson Square. The structure has reached three stories, and we have some new construction photos thanks to YIMBY reader Tectonic.
The site at 151 Maiden Lane has gone through several different designs, revealed by YIMBY over the past few years, and while we’ve posted what appears to be the final look for the site’s 51-story residential tower, its hotel component has been missing. But now, YIMBY has the first renderings of the future Marriott, designed by Peter Poon, which will actually fit in fairly nicely with its surroundings.
