50 Trinity Place Climbs Toward Halfway Mark in the Financial District, Manhattan

Construction is nearing the halfway mark on 50 Trinity Place, a 28-story Hotel Indigo in the Financial District. The 77,310-square-foot tower will yield 173 hotel rooms and is designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by FIT Investment Corporation, which purchased the Lower Manhattan property in 2012 for $15 million. The site is located at the corner of Trinity Place and Rector Street, diagonally across from Trinity Church.

Anish Kapoor’s Bean Sculpture at 56 Leonard Street Awaits Completion in Tribeca, Manhattan

Work has still yet to finish on the amorphous mirrored “bean” sculpture at the base of 56 Leonard Street, an 821-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Tribeca. The art piece, which sits partially complete between the sidewalk and the cantilevering ceiling of the ground floor by the intersection of Church and Leonard Streets, is the work of Anish Kapoor, the creator of Chicago’s chrome steel-plated Cloud Gate and the ArcelorMittal Orbit from the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Herzog & de Meuron and Hill West Architects are the designers of the tower, one of the tallest structures in Lower Manhattan.

Work on No. 33 Park Row Nearly Finished in Financial District, Manhattan

Work is nearing completion on No. 33 Park Row, aka Pearl on the Park, a 331-foot-tall residential building in the Civic Center section of the Financial District. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Sir Richard Rogers and Graham Stirk of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and developed by Centurion Real Estate Partners and Urban Muse, the 23-story reinforced concrete structure is one of several new projects transforming Park Row, which historically gave rise to New York’s first skyscrapers like the New York Tribune Building and the World Building in the late 1800s. No. 33 Park Row sits directly across from City Hall Park and is expected to yield 95,000 square feet and 30 homes, ranging from one- to five-bedroom units and penthouses, many with private outdoor spaces spanning floors six through 23. Sales launch next month and Compass Development Marketing Group is the exclusive marketing and sales agent for the property.

Seaport Residences’ Future Remains Uncertain in Financial District, Manhattan

Work remains stalled on Seaport Residences, a 60-story residential skyscraper formerly known as One Seaport at 161 Maiden Lane in the Financial District. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group LLC with Ray Builders as the contractor, the 670-foot-tall tower is planned to yield 200,000 square feet and 80 units with interior design by Groves & Co.

One Wall Street’s Residential Conversion and Addition Continues in the Financial District

Work is progressing on the residential conversion and retail addition on the 90-year-old One Wall Street in the Financial District. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Macklowe Properties, the projected $1.5 billion undertaking is poised to be the largest office-to-condominium conversion in New York City history. When complete, the 654-foot-tall property will yield a total of 566 residential units with sales handled and marketed by Compass, as well as a 44,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market and a Life Time fitness center on the lower levels.

First Marble Panels Installed on Santiago Calatrava’s St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in the Financial District

The first marble slabs have begun installation on the curved central wall of Santiago Calatrava‘s St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in the Financial District. Located by the intersection of Greenwich Street and Liberty Street on the elevated Liberty Park, the structure will serve as the new home for the long-established church that was formerly located to the west of the park’s footprint at 155 Cedar Street. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is developing the project, which sits directly to the south of the original 16-acre World Trade Center complex and rests above the subterranean ramps and southern entrance to the Vehicle Security Center.

Manhattan’s First Public Beach at Gansevoort Peninsula Will Begin Construction This Spring

Hudson River Park Trust expects to begin construction this spring on Gansevoort Peninsula Park, Manhattan’s first public beach. Located on the Hudson River waterfront near Pier 53 at Little West 12th Street, the 5.5-acre project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Five World Trade Center’s 900-Foot-Tall Redesign by Kohn Pedersen Fox Revealed, in Manhattan’s Financial District

In an exciting reveal for the ongoing redevelopment and rebuilding of the World Trade Center, Kohn Pedersen Fox has unveiled the first set of renderings for its proposed 900-foot-tall design for Five World Trade Center, aka 130 Liberty Street. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected the winning bid at a board meeting on Thursday afternoon to allow Silverstein Properties, Brookfield Properties, Omni New York LLC, and Dabar Development Partners to lease the 1.56-million-square-foot mixed-use building under a 99-year ground lease.

Delshah Capital has released updated renderings of The Avant, a new condominium development in Manhattan’s East Village. Located at 533 East 12th Street between Avenues A and B, the property tops out at eight stories and houses 26 boutique residences. Exterior Work Progresses On Topped-Out 76 Eighth Avenue in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction has topped out at 76 Eighth Avenue, a ten-story commercial building in Greenwich Village. The facade was originally designed by Gene Kaufman Architect but YIMBY was recently informed that the redesign with the darker steel exterior that we’ve been seeing is the work of RAAD Studios. Sang Lee, Noviprop, and Plus Development are still the developers of the 120-foot-tall structure, which is planned to yield 30,000 square feet of office space and ground-floor retail. The property is located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Eighth Avenue.
