25-Story, 195-Unit Mixed-Use Building Rises Above Street Level at 115 Delancey Street, Essex Crossing, Lower East Side

Steel beams and the concrete core are now a couple stories above street level on the 25-story, 195-unit mixed-use project under development at 115 Delancey Street, located between Essex and Norfolk streets on the Lower East Side. Progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the new building will encompass 489,688 square feet and rise 315 feet to the top of its parapet.

Excavation Begins on Site of Planned 17-Unit Residential Project at 111 Leroy Street, West Village

Excavation work has begun on the site of a 17-unit residential development at 111 Leroy Street, located on the corner of Greenwich Street in the West Village. The project will consist of a 10-story, 12-unit mixed-use building at 111 Leroy Street, in addition to five single-family townhouses at 115-121 Leroy Street and 621 Greenwich Street.

57-Story, 80-Unit Residential Tower, 1 Seaport, Rises to Sixth Floor at 161 Maiden Lane, Financial District

Construction is now six floors above street level on the 57-story, 80-unit residential tower under development at 161 Maiden Lane, located on the corner of South Street in the Financial District. Progress on the structure can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the 670-foot-tall tower, dubbed 1 Seaport, will encompass 192,473 square feet.

Today, New Yorker Donald J. Trump will be sworn-in as president of the United States in Washington, D.C. Every swearing-in since 1801, except some cases that followed the death of the president, has taken place there. However, the first inauguration, that of President George Washington, took place right here in New York.

New Rendering of 10-Story Mixed-Use Project Planned at 108 Chambers Street, TriBeCa

A new rendering has been revealed of a 10-story mixed-use building planned at 108 Chambers Street, located on the corner of Church Street in TriBeCa. The project, currently in the early planning stages, would feature retail space across the first two above-grade floors, followed by residential units above, Tribeca Citizen reported. Greystone Development is the developer and Woods Bagot is the architect.

Revised Design for New West Village Residential Building at 11-19 Jane Street Fails to Gain Landmarks Approval

It was nearly seven months ago that the Landmarks Preservation Commission first heard a proposal to construct a six-story apartment building where a two-story garage building currently sits in the West Village. That process was met with opposition from the public and failed to gain approval from the LPC. The process for deciding the future of 11-19 Jane Street continued on Tuesday, but again with no resolution.

New building applications for single and multi-family residential developments in New York City saw a major slowdown in 2016, as the fading boom following the changes that occurred at the Department of Buildings in 2014 began to slack further. Numbers have plunged by over half since 2014, and by 38 percent since 2015. The full report with spreadsheets covering every new building application is available at the research store.
