World Trade Center Transit Hub Receiving Finishing Touches, Financial District

Last October, construction was making quick progress at the World Trade Center Transit Hub, dubbed the Oculus, and the structure is now receiving its finishing touches. Platform B of the PATH’s WTC station has now opened to the public, and Platform C is currently being reconstructed. According to Curbed, glass installation for the structure’s skylight is also underway.

Morris Adjmi-Designed Condos Planned at 34 East 13th Street

Earlier this month, developer Ranger Properties paid $22,000,000 for two buildings at the corner of University Place and East 13th Street, in the heart of the Village near Union Square. Then EV Grieve reported that longtime stalwart University Place Gourmet had shuttered, along with a Chinese laundry around the corner on 13th Street. Now plans have been filed to construct a seven-story apartment building on the site at 34 East 13th Street, and Adjmi Architects is designing.

Excavation Begins On 14-Story, 50-Unit Mixed-Use Building At 242 Broome Street, Lower East Side

Earlier this year, YIMBY revealed renderings for the first phase of Essex Crossing, a multi-site mixed-use project on the Lower East Side being developed by L+M Development, Taconic Investment and BFC Partners. Bowery Boogie now reports excavation has begun on the first building, located at 242 Broome Street, where a SHoP-designed 14-story, 55-unit mixed-use building is planned. Splitsville Lanes will occupy the basement, and other retail space is also expected on the ground floor.

Six-Story Residential Building Tops Out At 321 East 3rd Street, East Village

Venetian Management’s six-story, 30-unit residential building underway at 321 East 3rd Street, in the East Village, has topped out, according to EV Grieve. Cladding has yet to be installed, but the structure appears to in preparation for façade. The building will measure 23,000 square feet, which means units will average 767 square feet each, and Gerald Caliendo is designing. Completion is likely by the end of 2015.
