NYC Ferry Routes Expand Service Across Manhattan and The Bronx

The NYC Ferry system has announced two expanded routes which will now include the Lower East Side, Manhattan, and The Bronx. The expanded service arrives as a joint initiative with The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Hornblower, a private cruise and charter company that operates NYC’s ferry network.

Construction Wraps on 30-Story Moxy Hotel at 143 Fulton Street in Lower Manhattan

Located at 143 Fulton Street in the Financial District, the new 364-foot-tall and 298-room Moxy hotel is almost complete, with the final exterior finishes underway at the base of the tower. Two entrances to the building are located on Fulton Street and Ann Street, and up above, the project features a dark glass facade atop a four-story podium. SLCE Architects is the architect, while the developer of the nearly 129,000 square foot property is Tribeca Associates. Interiors are being done by Stonehill & Taylor.

25 Park Row Reaches Halfway Mark Above City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan

It’s up, up, and away for the new residential skyscraper at 23 Park Row, which is now visible from the 9/11 Memorial. The tower is being designed by COOKFOX Architects, and the developers are L&M Development Partners and the J&R Music Store founders, whose business formerly occupied the same site. The structure will soon rise 54 stories into the Lower Manhattan skyline, to a height of 702 feet. The lot sits in between 1 Beekman, aka “The Pearl on The Park,” which has now topped-off, and the 119-year old Park Row Building. The latter is about to be surpassed in height by its new neighbor, most likely by the beginning of August.

YIMBY’s 2018 Mid-Year Pipeline Report Shows Surge In New Development Filings With YTD Unit Count Increasing 67.5% Over 2017

While YIMBY normally covers aggregate new building applications on an annual basis, this year, we have released our first mid-year pipeline report, and the results are surprisingly positive. After two years of declining applications following the frenzies of 2014 and 2015, the preliminary numbers for 2018 appear to be signaling a major uptick in activity. Year-over-year filings of new residential units have grown substantially, rising from 9,134 in the first six months of 2017, to 15,305 in 2018 — an increase of 67.5%.

Permits Pre-Filed for 35-Story Tower at 185 Broadway in the Financial District

Permits have been pre-filed a 35-story mixed-use high rise at 185 Broadway in Manhattan’s Financial District. This is the largest development filed for the area in 2018, at least, so far. The site is located right in the center of the neighborhood, near just about every major train line on the subway system, with the Fulton Street transport hub situated across the street. SL Green Realty is responsible for the project.
