Exclusive Interview & Look at Views from 90 Morton Street, West Village

Last week, we toured 90 Morton Street, a 12-story building in the West Village that is being converted from warehouse to condominiums. Construction is moving along quickly, with the major structural additions now complete. Brack Capital Real Estate is responsible for the development, having purchased the site in 2014 for $105 million. YIMBY sat down with the project’s team to discuss the evolution of the southwest West Village, the challenges involved in converting and expanding a historic warehouse, and expectations for the neighborhood’s future.

Architect David Adjaye Talks 130 William Street as Work Pushes Above Ground, Financial District

Concrete is finally starting to rise for the soon-to-be 800-foot tall residential tower at 130 William Street in the Financial District. The building has surpassed the significant brunt of foundational work, and is now beginning to progress above ground level. Sir David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates is responsible for the design.

Renderings Revealed for Morris Adjmi-Designed 119-121 2nd Avenue, East Village

Plans for the replacement at 119-121 2^nd Avenue have been submitted to the Landmark Preservation Commission, allowing the public a first look at what may be coming to an East Village corner. The three lots previously on the site were cleared from the devastating 2015 East Village gas explosion, which injured 19 and caused two deaths. The two lots were purchased for $9.15 million in 2017, and permits were filed in late February 2018 for the replacement. Nexus Development will be responsible for the rebuild, first revealed by EV Grieve.

Updated Renderings for 14 White Street Revealed in Tribeca

Designed in a collaboration between NAVA and DXA Studios, updated renderings of 14 White Street have been released following previous unanimous approval from New York City’s Landmark Preservation Commission. The seven-story building will comprise 29,000 square feet containing a mix of residential and retail accommodations.

Construction Update for 111 Leroy Street, West Village

The redevelopment of the southwest corner of the West Village by the Hudson River is often overlooked, but that part of the neighborhood is about to get a healthy dose of modernization. One project now under construction is 111 Leroy Street, which will create nine apartments and five townhouses. Work has progressed significantly since our last look, and façade installation appears imminent. Property Markets Group is responsible for the development.

1 Beekman Street Tops Out Above City Hall Park

Nicknamed the “Pearl On The Park,” and located next to the Beekman Hotel at 5 Beekman Street and directly adjacent to COOKFOX’s 59-story residential tower rising at 25 Park Row, 1 Beekman Street has officially topped-out at 25 stories in height. Construction has progressed quickly over the past year, and demolition and excavation of the site only began two years ago.

New Renderings Appear for Supertall 5 World Trade Center

For the second time in 2018, YIMBY has a new look for Five World Trade Center. The latest rendering was found by a reader on the project’s fencing in the Financial District. The image shows a glassy building with a triangular motif reminiscent of the David Childs-designed 1 WTC. The depiction is roughly 70 stories in height, which could indicate yet another supertall is planned for the area.

19 Dutch Launches Leasing & Interior Renderings Revealed, Financial District

As construction nears full completion at 19 Dutch in Manhattan’s Financial District, today, the developer has officially launched leasing for the luxury residential tower. Designed by New York’s GKV Architects with SLCE serving as architect of record, the gleaming, glass-clad structure soars 770 feet above Lower Manhattan.

3 World Trade Center Opens as The Fourth Completed Building at the New WTC

3 World Trade Center, aka 175 Greenwich Street, opened its doors for the first time on June 11, 2018, with the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Silverstein Properties. After a series of guest speakers and live performances, the ribbon was cut at 12:00PM, officially opening the building for business. Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and developed by Silverstein Properties, the 80-story, 1,079 foot supertall is currently the fifth tallest skyscraper in New York City, and the second tallest at the World Trade Center.

Rendering Revealed for 118 East 1st Street, East Village

A rendering has been spotted at 118 East 1^st Street, a nine-story new development in the East Village directly overlooking the Lower East Side. The site is three blocks away from the Essex Street subway station, serviced by the F, J, M, and Z trains. Six blocks away is the Tompkins Square Park. Cynthia Wu and Robert Marty are listed as the developers.
