Two Manhattan West’s Steel Superstructure Begins Ascent in Midtown West

The steel superstructure of Two Manhattan West is beginning to rise in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 935-foot-tall office skyscraper will ascend directly to the south of the completed One Manhattan West and feature an identical architectural design. The 58-story building will contain two million square feet of office space and is projected to cost $2 billion.

Work is now complete on Hudson Commons, a mixed-use commercial office at 441 Ninth Avenue in Midtown West. Located between 34th Street and 35th Street, the project involved the construction of a 17-story addition above an existing eight-story, 58-year-old structure. Kohn Pedersen Fox is the designer and Cove Property and Baupost Group are the developers of the 700,000-square-foot building.

Construction activity is underway at 519 West 29th Street in Chelsea, where a ten-story residential building is set to rise. Developed by Churchill Real Estate and Six Sigma with Rand Engineering and Architecture as the architect of record, the 135-foot-tall structure will yield 56,160 square feet divided among 60 condominiums. The site is located between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues on the western side of the High Line.

The superstructure of 555 West 22nd Street appears to have topped out near the Chelsea waterfront. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the 26-story condominium building now stands about 300 feet tall. The 250,000-square-foot project is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 22nd Street and West 23rd Street and will yield 141 units, averaging around 2,245 square feet apiece.
