Foster + Partners, Epstein Announced as Architectural Advisors for Port Authority’s Midtown Bus Terminal in Times Square, Manhattan

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has selected Foster + Partners and Epstein to help reimagine Manhattan’s 72-year-old Midtown Bus Terminal in Times Square. The replacement project will create a new terminal for New York City buses, dedicated spaces for intercity buses, staging areas, electric vehicle charging stations, outward-facing retail, and 3.5 acres of public green space.

Construction is closing in on completion on 50 Hudson Yards, a 58-story commercial supertall in Hudson Yards and the final component of the first phase of the master plan. Designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, the 1,011-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 2.9 million square feet of office space, making it the largest building by volume in the complex. ArcelorMittal provided the steel components, Langan Engineering is the civil and environmental engineer, and WSP is the structural and MEP engineer for the property, which occupies a full block bound by West 34th Street to the north, West 33rd Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and Hudson Boulevard to the west.

Curtain Wall Installation Begins on 606 West 30th Street in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Curtain wall installation has begun on 606 West 30th Street, a 42-story residential skyscraper along the border of Hudson Yards and West Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Lalezarian Properties, the 545-foot-tall structure will yield 312,350 square feet, with 192,780 square feet of residential space and 14,240 square feet of commercial space. The building is known as Tower B in a two-skyscraper development along with the adjacent 601 West 29th Street from FXCollaborative and Douglaston Development. Hudson 37 LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eleventh Avenue and West Street.

Construction continues to rise on 270 Park Avenue, JPMorgan Chase‘s 70-story supertall headquarters in Midtown East. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 1,388-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space and set the record for the tallest building in New York to be powered by hydroelectric energy. Banker Steel is in charge of steel fabrication and NYC Constructors is the general contractor for the property, which spans a full block bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.It is expected to have a capacity to hold 15,000 employees.

Designed by MdeAS Architects and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, the project involves the full re-cladding and interior modernization of the 412-foot-tall, 1.61-million-square-foot mid-century office building, and is part of the ten-skyscraper Penn District revitalization plan. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is located along Seventh Avenue between West 31st and 33rd Streets, directly adjacent to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.
