Construction is finished on the High Line – Moynihan Connector, an L-shaped 600-foot-long extension of the 1.5-mile High Line linking the popular elevated green park with the five-building Manhattan West complex in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and James Corner Field Operations and developed in a public-private partnership between Empire State Development (ESD), Friends of the High Line, and Brookfield Properties, the $50 million project is composed of two ADA-accessible bridges that provide a safer and easier means of access to Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station. Turner Construction Company was the general contractor for the walkway, which runs along West 30th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues and turns to the north at Dyer Avenue to connect to the elevated southwestern corner of the Manhattan West plaza above West 31st Street.
Excavation is progressing for Rolex’s new 28-story headquarters at 665 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects with Adamson Associates as the architect of record and developed by the Rolex Realty Company, the 469-foot-tall structure will yield 199,000 square feet of office and retail space for the world-famous watchmaker. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 53rd Street.
The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Biltmore, a 53-story residential building at 271 West 47th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman & Efron in 2003, the structure yields 464 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 24 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $101,486 to $146,900.
Construction is complete on Two Manhattan West, a 58-story commercial skyscraper in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 935-foot-tall structure is the final component in the five-building Manhattan West master plan and yields 1.9 million square feet of office space directly to the south of its 996-foot supertall fraternal twin, One Manhattan West. W&W Glass is the facade contractor and AECOM Tishman was the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan project, which is located at the northwest corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue, between Hudson Yards to the west and the James A. Farley Building to the immediate east.
