New photographs of Central Park Tower, aka 217 West 57th Street, show the glass climbing even closer to the top of the tallest residential building in New York and the Western Hemisphere. The reinforced concrete structure will soon top out at 1,550 feet. The project is being designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and developed by Extell, which is expecting a project sellout of $4 billion. The Nordstrom retail component in the podium will open on October 24, 2019.
Over the past two months, 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, has made swift progress. The first steel beam for the 65-story skyscraper was dedicated in mid-April and erected at a time when the core foundation walls hadn’t yet reached street level. Now, the steel superstructure for the Bjarke Ingels Group-designed commercial office tower is three floors above the Midtown neighborhood of Hudson Yards.
Renderings have been released of a new mixed-use condominium building designed by Isaac & Stern Architects that is currently rising at 165 Lexington Avenue in Kips Bay, Manhattan. The 11-story building will comprise a modest 58,630 square feet.
The firm Gene Kaufman Architect is responsible for the design of 305 West 48th Street, a new 211-room hotel in Midtown’s Hell’s Kitchen. Located between Eighth and Ninth Avenue, the 27-story skyscraper rises along the fringe of tall skyscrapers between Times Square and the Hudson River, topping out at 303 feet. Glass is being installed on the southern elevation and the reinforced concrete walls will soon be covered in vibrant hues of red and yellow bricks. YIMBY last reported that Bright Management, Inc. is listed as the developer. The Rockwell Group is designing the interiors and amenities.
YIMBY recently visited the newly-completed 43-story residential building dubbed Summit, at 222 East 44th Street, in the Midtown neighborhood of Turtle Bay.
