Soho Properties, MHP Real Estate Services and Hampshire Hotels Group have closed on the purchase of 19,772 square feet of air rights for their planned 29-story, 384-foot mixed-use commercial building at 560 7th Avenue, in Midtown (at 40th Street), according to Commercial Observer. A 238-key Dream Hotel is planned, which will also feature retail space on the ground & second floor, and restaurants on the third floor and cellar level. Stonehill & Taylor Architects is designing, and demolition of the existing six-story building is expected to commence by the end of this year.
In the borderlands between East New York, Brownsville and Ocean Hill, one developer is planning supportive housing on an industrial block that the city plans to rezone for residential. New building applications were filed today for a six-story development at 2414a Atlantic Avenue, between Sackman Street and East New York Avenue.
Hotel developer Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group has just broken ground on a 114-key hotel at 324 West 44th Street, and YIMBY has a first look at the development, which will be a Marriott TownPlace Suites.
Most of the progress so far at Hudson Yards has been on the eastern edge of the site, with 30 Hudson Yards the only tower that’s currently above ground level. Isaac Chetrit and Jacob Aini have won a bid to acquire the 14-story, 63,000 square-foot commercial property at 315 West 35th Street, in the Garment District, for $43 million. The new owners plan to convert the vacant building into residential condominiums. The building was placed up for auction after the previous owner, developer Aaron Chitrik, defaulted on the property’s mortgage, according to The Real Deal.
