Foundations Underway for 49-Story Skyscraper at 98 DeKalb Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Excavation and foundation work are moving along at 98 DeKalb Avenue, the site of a 49-story residential skyscraper in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Rockrose Development, the 610-foot-tall structure will yield 418,092 square feet with 609 residential units and 3,775 square feet of commercial space. 180 Ashland GC LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 180 Ashland Place and located at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Ashland Place.

Alloy Block’s 100 Flatbush Avenue Nears Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is nearing completion on 100 Flatbush Avenue, a 44-story residential tower in the Alloy Block complex in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed and developed by Alloy Development, the 482-foot-tall, fully electric-powered structure will yield 441 rental units. Of these, 45 will be dedicated to affordable housing, developed in conjunction with the Fifth Avenue Committee. The five-building Alloy Block master plan will encompass 850 units with 200 permanently affordable apartments, 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, 50,000 square feet of retail space, 500 parking spaces for bikes, two Passive House public schools designed by Architecture Research Office, and space for a local cultural institution. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Flatbush Avenue to the northeast, Third Avenue to the northwest, and State Street to the southwest.

219 Jay Street Stands Topped Out in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 219 Jay Street, a 13-story residential building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Kane Architecture and Urban Design and developed by Tankhouse Development, the 130-foot-tall structure will yield 27 condominium units spread across 54,118 square feet, for an average scope of 1,340 square feet. KSK Construction Group is the general contractor and 219 JSP LLC is the owner of the property, which is alternately addressed as 9 Chapel Street and bound by Concord Street to the north, Chapel Street to the south, and Jay Street to the west.

Foundations Underway at 1393 York Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Foundation work is underway at 1393 York Avenue, the site of a 17-story student housing complex in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Perkins + Will and developed by Weill Cornell Medical College, which purchased the property from Church of the Epiphany for $68 million in 2018, the 202-foot-tall structure will span 128,205 square feet and accommodate 272 students in 221 residences with an average scope of 657 square feet. The program includes 163 studios, seven one-bedrooms, and 51 two-bedroom units, as well as an additional 20,390 square feet of residential space, presumably for faculty housing. Turner Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of East 74th Street and York Avenue.

625 Fulton Street Reaches The Halfway Mark in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction has reached the halfway mark on 625 Fulton Street, a 35-story mixed-use tower in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by Rabsky Group with $450 million in construction financing from Madison Realty Capital, the 500-foot-tall structure will yield 1,098 residential units, 26,000 square feet of retail space, and an on-site parking garage for 250 vehicles. Galaxy Developers is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 485 Hudson Avenue and bound by the 34-story 80 DeKalb Avenue to the north, Fulton Street to the south, Rockwell Place to the east, and Hudson Avenue to the west.

Façade Installation Progresses on 15 Hanover Place in Downtown Brooklyn

Façade installation is progressing on 15 Hanover Place, a 34-story residential tower currently rising in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Lonicera Partners, for which Cushman & Wakefield arranged $134 million in construction financing from Santander and City National Bank, the 463-foot-tall structure will span 70,734 square feet and yield 314 apartments with 95 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space in the podium. Noble Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which was formerly addressed as 23 Hanover Place and located at the corner of Livingston Street and Hanover Place.

Gowanus Canal Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities Project Readies for Excavation in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is about to get underway for the Gowanus Canal Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities project, a wastewater retention complex spanning three properties at 242 and 270 Nevins Streets and 234 Butler Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Selldorf Architects and managed by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the development will consist of a two-story head house with underground water retention tanks and a 1.6-acre public park with landscaping by DLAND Studio. Hazen and Sawyer, and Brown and Caldwell are engineering consultants and Gowanus Canal Constructors is the general contractor for the project, which occupies a full block bound by Butler Street to the north, DeGraw Street to the south, Nevins Street to the east, and the Gowanus Canal to the west.

445 Carroll Street Nears Completion in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Construction is nearing completion on 445 Carroll Street, a four-story mixed-use building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Opera Studio and developed and constructed by The Wooden Block Co., the 5,988-square-foot structure will yield a single 2,965-square-foot residential unit, 1,023 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a 2,000-square-foot cellar. The project is located on a 20-foot-wide plot between 3rd Avenue to the east and Nevins Street to the west.

Site Preparations Underway for Majestic at 540 DeGraw Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Crews are readying for excavation at the site of Majestic, a 12-story residential building at 540 DeGraw Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Domain Companies, Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Urban Investment Group, Vorea Group, and Mega Development, the 146-foot-tall structure will span 244,882 square feet and yield 268 rental units with an average scope of 861 square feet, as well as 13,929 square feet of retail and office space and 45 enclosed parking spaces. Twenty-five percent of the apartments will be designated for affordable housing. Future Green Studio is the landscape designer and Mega Contracting Group is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 537 Sackett Street and bound by DeGraw Street to the north, Sackett Street to the south, and Nevins Street to the west.

Renovation Work Progresses at 105 Washington Street in Financial District, Manhattan

Renovation work is progressing on 105 Washington Street, a six-story former residential building in Manhattan’s Financial District that is being converted to a homeless shelter under the city’s Safe Haven program. Designed by EQ Architecture & Design and developed by The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), the 97-year-old structure spans 22,088 square feet and will yield 84 housing units. Penta Restoration Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Carlisle and Rector Streets.
