Façade Installation Progresses on 15 Hanover Place in Downtown Brooklyn

Façade installation is progressing on 15 Hanover Place, a 34-story residential tower currently rising in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Lonicera Partners, for which Cushman & Wakefield arranged $134 million in construction financing from Santander and City National Bank, the 463-foot-tall structure will span 70,734 square feet and yield 314 apartments with 95 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space in the podium. Noble Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which was formerly addressed as 23 Hanover Place and located at the corner of Livingston Street and Hanover Place.

Gowanus Canal Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities Project Readies for Excavation in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is about to get underway for the Gowanus Canal Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities project, a wastewater retention complex spanning three properties at 242 and 270 Nevins Streets and 234 Butler Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Selldorf Architects and managed by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the development will consist of a two-story head house with underground water retention tanks and a 1.6-acre public park with landscaping by DLAND Studio. Hazen and Sawyer, and Brown and Caldwell are engineering consultants and Gowanus Canal Constructors is the general contractor for the project, which occupies a full block bound by Butler Street to the north, DeGraw Street to the south, Nevins Street to the east, and the Gowanus Canal to the west.

Construction is nearing completion on 445 Carroll Street, a four-story mixed-use building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Opera Studio and developed and constructed by The Wooden Block Co., the 5,988-square-foot structure will yield a single 2,965-square-foot residential unit, 1,023 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a 2,000-square-foot cellar. The project is located on a 20-foot-wide plot between 3rd Avenue to the east and Nevins Street to the west.

Crews are readying for excavation at the site of Majestic, a 12-story residential building at 540 DeGraw Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Domain Companies, Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Urban Investment Group, Vorea Group, and Mega Development, the 146-foot-tall structure will span 244,882 square feet and yield 268 rental units with an average scope of 861 square feet, as well as 13,929 square feet of retail and office space and 45 enclosed parking spaces. Twenty-five percent of the apartments will be designated for affordable housing. Future Green Studio is the landscape designer and Mega Contracting Group is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 537 Sackett Street and bound by DeGraw Street to the north, Sackett Street to the south, and Nevins Street to the west.

Designed by EQ Architecture & Design and developed by The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), the 97-year-old structure spans 22,088 square feet and will yield 84 housing units. Penta Restoration Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Carlisle and Rector Streets.
