1655 First Avenue Nears Completion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Construction is nearing completion on 1655 First Avenue, a 23-story mixed-use residential development on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by S. Wieder Architect for Cheskel Schwimmer of Chess Builders, the project consists of two conjoined structures standing 235 feet tall. The buildings will span a combined 193,000 square feet and yield 198 rental units with an average scope of 725 square feet, as well as ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. The 12,000-square-foot property is alternately addressed as 355 East 86th Street and located at the northwest corner of First Avenue and East 86th Street.

Renderings Revealed for 34 Union Square East in Gramercy Park, Manhattan

YIMBY has an exclusive set of new renderings for 34 Union Square East, a forthcoming 12-story residential building in Gramercy Park, Manhattan. Designed by INPUT for MSH Equities LLC, the 124-foot-tall structure will span 32,000 square feet and yield 29 condominium units with an average scope of 1,013 square feet. The project will also include 1,555 square feet of ground floor retail, according to permits filed in March. Kao Hwa Lee Architects is the architect of record for the property, which is alternately addressed as 100 East 16th Street and is located at the southeast corner of Union Square East and East 16th Street, directly across from Union Square park.

Four Residential Projects Complete Construction In East Williamsburg, Brooklyn

YIMBY went to see four residential projects that recently completed construction in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The properties are located north of Grand Street, west of Woodpoint Road/Bushwick Avenue, and on the southeastern side of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE), and yield a combined 41 units.

Construction is complete on The Henry, an 18-story residential building at 211 West 84th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Naftali Group, the 209-foot-tall structure spans 154,598 square feet and yields 45 condominium units with an average scope of 3,371 square feet. The project also includes 2,898 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a cellar level, and a 17-vehicle parking garage. Hill West Architects as the architect of record for the property, which is located at the corner of West 84th Street and Broadway.

Additional Renovations Revealed for Christie’s Auction House At 20 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan

Renderings have been revealed for the renovation of Christie’s auction house at 20 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and INC Architecture & Design, the project will revamp three levels with a new sales room, expanded private viewing areas, upgraded warehouses, and improved circulation between the galleries. The lobby and entrance will also be renovated. The 310,000-square-foot property is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

Updated Design Revealed for 1214-1238 East 14th Street in Midwood, Brooklyn

New renderings have been revealed for 1214-1238 East 14th Street, a proposed nine-story residential building in Midwood, Brooklyn. Designed by IMC Architecture and developed under the East14 Realty Holdings LLC, the nearly 171,000-square-foot structure would yield 225 units, including 57 income-restricted homes. The project is also planned to include 13,880 square feet of community facility space, recreation space, and 42-vehicle parking garage with 115 bicycle spaces. The property is located between Locust Avenue and Avenue L.

Renderings Revealed for The Parkline at 25 Field Court in Kingston, Ulster County

Renderings have been revealed for The Parkline, a proposed five-story residential building at 25 Field Court in Kingston, Ulster County. Developed in a joint venture between The Affordable Housing Conservancy, Fulcra Development, and Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation, the 12,810-square-foot structure is expected to yield 71 rental apartments. Units are slated to be reserved for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). The project will also include 4,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 35 parking spots. The property is located within the Midtown Kingston Arts District by the intersection of Field Court and Broadway. An architect was not specified.

711-Unit Tower Passes Halfway Mark at 180 East 125th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan

Construction has passed the halfway mark on 180 East 125th Street, a 38-story mixed-use residential tower in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by S9 Architecture and developed by JCS Realty, the 410-foot-tall structure will yield 711 rental units. The project will also include ground-floor retail with a supermarket, as well as a 116-vehicle parking garage. The property is bounded by Third Avenue and East 124th and 125th Streets.

Redesign Revealed for 159 Broadway in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

A redesign has been revealed for 159 Broadway, a 12-story residential building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Joyland Management under the One Fifty Nine B LLC, the 125-foot-tall structure will span 107,211 square feet and yield 99 rental units with an average scope of 827 square feet. The project will also include 9,065 square feet of community facility space and 16,249 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The property is located between Bedford and Driggs Avenues, directly west of the landmarked Williamsburgh Dime Savings Bank and south of the elevated roadways connecting to the Williamsburg Bridge.

Redesign Revealed for PENN15 Office Supertall at 15 Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan

An updated design has been revealed for PENN15, a proposed 1,050-foot supertall office skyscraper at 15 Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, the 52-story structure is slated to yield 2.1 million square feet of office space and lower-level retail. The property is alternately addressed as 401 Seventh Avenue and is located between West 32nd and 33rd Streets, directly across from Penn Station. The project is planned as the centerpiece of the 7.4-million-square-foot Penn District master plan.
