Construction is nearing completion on The Eliza, a 14-story all-affordable residential building at 4790 Broadway in Inwood, Manhattan. Designed by Fogarty Finger and Andrew Berman Architect and developed by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York City Housing Development Corporation, and the New York Public Library (NYPL), the structure will yield 174 rental units in studio- to three-bedroom layouts, a public library, a preschool, and community facilities. Ranger Properties LLC is listed as the owner and Mega Contracting Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior rectangular parcel between Dyckman and Academy Streets. The project is named in honor of Eliza Hamilton, the wife of Alexander Hamilton.

New Renderings Revealed for BIG’s Four-Skyscraper Freedom Plaza Master Plan in Murray Hill, Manhattan

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has unveiled a new set of renderings of its 4.1-million-square-foot proposal for Freedom Plaza, a potential mixed-use casino development on the border of Murray Hill and Tudor City. Developed by The Soloviev Group, which currently owns the property, in a joint collaboration with Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, plans call for two new residential skyscrapers rising 50 to 60 stories tall with 1,325 apartments, including 510 affordable housing units, as well as two 51-story hotel towers with 1,200 guest rooms split between Banyan Tree and Mohegan branding. A new landscaped waterfront park, a below-grade casino, and a museum would sit beneath the skyscrapers. The 6.5-acre property is the largest undeveloped plot in Manhattan, and is located along First Avenue between East 38th and East 41st Streets, directly south of the United Nations complex.

4778 Broadway’s Façade Progresses in Inwood, Manhattan

Exterior work is progressing on 4778 Broadway, a 12-story mixed-use building in Inwood, Manhattan. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Maddd Equities, which purchased the property for $12 million in 2018, the 99,000-square-foot structure will yield 80 affordable housing units and 18,759 square feet of commercial space on the lower levels. M4778 Broadway LLC is listed as the owner and GDI Construction is the general contractor for the project, which rises from a 12,000-square-foot interior parcel by the corner of Broadway and Dyckman Street.

262 Fifth Avenue Nears Topping Out in NoMad, Manhattan 

Construction has reached the roof parapet of 262 Fifth Avenue, a 56-story residential skyscraper in NoMad, Manhattan. Designed by Meganom with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development under the Five Points 262 Project LLC, the 860-foot-tall structure will yield 26 condominium units with an average scope of 3,200 square feet, including at least one quadruplex unit. GEA Consulting Engineers is the MEP engineer and CM & Associates Construction Management is the general contractor for the project, which rises from a 5,000-square-foot plot at the southwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street.

125 Barclay Street’s Re-Cladding Nears Completion in Tribeca, Manhattan

Façade installation is wrapping up on 125 Barclay Street, an 11-story commercial building in Tribeca, Manhattan. Designed by Switzer Group and developed by District Council 37 (DC37), the project involves the renovation and re-cladding of the 92-year-old former World Telegram Building and the construction of an additional floor above its parapet, and will yield 264,700 square feet of office space. Lilker Associates is the MEP and FP engineer and Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Murray Street to the north, Barclay Street to the south, and West Street to the west.
